Suspect Fires Four Shots into Home of Subdistrict Council By-Election Candidate Late at Night, Then Flees

A candidate for the Nong Na Saeng Subdistrict Administrative Organization by-election was targeted by an assailant who fired four shots into his home late at night before fleeing the scene. The candidate insists he has no conflicts with anyone.

On 21 May 2026, reports stated that in the early morning of 20 May, Police Lieutenant Colonel Jittipat Kamrangsri, an investigator at Mueang Chaiyaphum Police Station, received a report from Mrs. Janhom Thongsantia, 52, and Mr. Luang Thongsantia, 51, a married couple, who came to file a complaint with CCTV footage. The incident happened around 10 p.m. on 19 May 2026 when a suspect driving a vehicle resembling a seven-seater Ford approached their home in Village No. 3, Nong Na Saeng Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chaiyaphum Province. The suspect parked across the street from their house, then fired gunshots into the home before quickly fleeing late at night.

Shortly after, the couple heard loud noises inside the house and found numerous bullets had fallen onto their bed. Upon investigation, they discovered one bullet projectile inside the house and over four bullet casings outside across the street. They immediately reviewed CCTV footage showing the suspect’s vehicle arriving and firing at the house, although the license plate could not be identified.

The next morning, the couple quickly gathered the CCTV evidence and reported the incident to authorities via the 191 hotline. Police then visited the scene and found four bullet casings and projectile heads, confirming the use of an 11 mm firearm. Authorities are now intensifying efforts to collect evidence and track down the suspect responsible for the shooting.

Mr. Luang Thongsantia, 51, husband of Mrs. Janhom, stated that they do not know the motive behind the attack as they have never had any conflicts with anyone. He added that his wife, Mrs. Janhom, recently registered for the Nong Na Saeng Subdistrict Administrative Organization by-election for the first time, with voting scheduled for 30 May 2026, and she has no disputes with anyone.

Regarding rumors linking the incident to loan shark gangs, Mr. Luang firmly denied any connection, stating they have never borrowed money illegally from anyone. He expressed concern over the attack occurring shortly after his wife’s candidacy announcement and urged authorities to expedite their investigation. Relatives are also shaken by the incident.
