The owner reviewed CCTV footage but the officer still claims it was normal behavior. The case involves the BBQ restaurant owner angrily posting that a customer, a police officer with the rank of Sub-Lieutenant, touched a female employee's private parts. When confronted, he denied doing so. The owner produced CCTV footage to confirm the act, but the officer remained arrogant, insisting it was normal behavior. The owner reported the incident to the police but the matter remains unresolved, urging the officer's superiors to investigate and impose strict punishment.
At 9:00 p.m. on 20 May 2026, reporters visited Ton Pradu BBQ restaurant in Lat Ya Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kanchanaburi Province, located beside the Kwai Yai River. There they met Mr. Panupong or At, 31, the owner, and Ms. Jane (a pseudonym), a 20-year-old part-time female employee.
Mr. Panupong, the owner, said that since opening the restaurant, he had never encountered such an incident. He emphasized that a BBQ restaurant is not a bar, and that patrons have no right to behave that way toward any woman. He appealed to the Kanchanaburi Provincial Police Commander to take action and ensure justice for the victim, since the perpetrator is a police officer.
Mr. At further explained that on the night of the incident, he was checking the restaurant as it was about to close when the employee came to him crying. Several people told him what had happened. As a man, he could not accept such behavior; it was an insult to dignity. He called the police, who arrived and asked him to identify the offender. If the officer had admitted and apologized, the matter would have ended. However, from the behavior seen on video, the officer showed no remorse, likely due to alcohol and ego. The next morning, when the employee went to the police station to follow up, there was still no apology or acknowledgment of wrongdoing, and the officer even questioned whether he was at fault.
Ms. Jane (pseudonym) revealed that she had never experienced anything like this before and was very shocked. When she walked to the owner, her heart was pounding and she could barely walk. On that day, the officer tried to touch her private parts. Another woman witnessed this, but the officer acted as if nothing happened, so she went to the owner.
"When I went to him, the female owner took me aside and said the person who did this denies it, saying, ‘I didn’t do it, show me the footage. I didn’t do anything, I don’t know,’" Ms. Jane said.
Ms. Jane also said the incident affected her deeply. She used to love welcoming customers, but now worries about what kind of customers she will face and whether this will happen again. She feels bad and scared. She is a student working part-time to earn money for the semester but had to endure this. She intends to pursue legal action because the officer has not apologized at all.
