Investigators in Kamphaeng Phet city raided a drug-use gathering spot and encountered a man acting suspiciously, who was identified as a police sergeant hiding methamphetamine in his vehicle.
On 20 May 2026 at approximately 12:20 PM, an investigative team from Kamphaeng Phet City Police Station arrested Mr. Bancha, 52, in front of an unnumbered residence on Soi 29, Thetsa 2 Road, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kamphaeng Phet Province, following a tip from an informant that the location was used for drug use gatherings.
Upon arrival, officers found Mr. Bancha outside the house preparing to enter his private car. When he noticed the police, Bancha showed obvious signs of nervousness and suspicious behavior as he attempted to conceal something inside the vehicle. Officers then identified themselves and proceeded to conduct a search immediately.
In initial questioning, Mr. Bancha confessed that he had used one methamphetamine pill earlier that morning and admitted that the items he tried to hide in the car were indeed methamphetamine pills.
Authorities then formally requested permission to thoroughly search the vehicle in front of the suspect. The search uncovered 14 methamphetamine pills in a clear plastic bag wrapped in tissue paper, placed on the driver's seat. Officers seized the drugs as evidence.
Further investigation and interviews with the suspect's relatives revealed the surprising fact that Mr. Bancha is actually a police officer holding the rank of Police Sergeant, a non-commissioned officer position.
The arrest team subsequently handed the suspect and the seized evidence to Police Lieutenant Pratya Thabankhong, an investigator at Kamphaeng Phet City Police Station, to proceed with legal action decisively.
