Lat Ya Police Station, the site of the incident, urges the public to have confidence that the case involving a Police Sub-Lieutenant harassing a waitress will be handled with fairness. They have coordinated with the officer’s superiors to pursue full disciplinary action.
In the case where the owner of a barbecue restaurant posted angrily that a customer, a police officer with the rank of Sub-Lieutenant, grabbed the private parts of a female waitress. When confronted, the officer denied the act, but the owner presented CCTV evidence, yet the officer continued to behave arrogantly and showed no remorse, claiming "Isn’t this normal?" The victim has reported the incident to the police, but no resolution has been reached. The owner pleaded for the officer’s superiors to investigate and impose strict punishment. Later, Police Colonel Chompol Rujiradumrongchai, Deputy Commander of Kanchanaburi Provincial Police, acknowledged that the man harassing the waitress resembled a police officer but said verification is needed first. He assured full commitment to the investigation and warned that if guilt is proven, the officer will face severe consequences. He emphasized that bad elements exist in every unit and must be dealt with firmly and removed from society, as previously reported.
In the latest update on 21 May 2026, reporters reported that the Facebook page of Lat Ya Police Station in Kanchanaburi posted a message stating that according to the news images and the time and place of the incident, Ms. A (alias), who works as a waitress at a restaurant in Moo 4, Lat Ya Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kanchanaburi Province, was serving a group of police officers not affiliated with Lat Ya Police Station who came to dine at the restaurant. One police officer called Ms. A to refill water at their table.
While Ms. A was refilling water as usual, the police officer sitting nearby reached out and touched her genital area, stroking it once from bottom to top.
Startled, Ms. A immediately went to inform her employer about the incident. They then called Lat Ya Police Station to intervene. Subsequently, Ms. A filed a formal complaint with the investigators to pursue charges against the police officer. The investigators have registered the case and it is currently under investigation. Lat Ya Police Station assures the public that the investigation will be conducted fairly despite the suspect being a police officer, and asks for the public’s trust.
Regarding the accused police officer, the Chief of Lat Ya Police Station has formally contacted the officer’s superior department, requesting they take full disciplinary action against him, and this has been completed.
