On 23 May 2026, it was reported that at 13:00 on 22 May, Police Major General Peerapol Chotiksethien, Commander of Pathum Thani Provincial Police, along with Police Colonel Thongrob Jaengjit, Deputy Commander of Pathum Thani Provincial Police; Police Colonel Phatthanchai Phomornphiboon, Superintendent of Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station; Police Lieutenant Colonel Sirapop Bualuang, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station; Police Lieutenant Colonel Kannapong Phutthachat, Deputy Superintendent of Patrol at Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station; and Police Captain Itthipol Phuttharaksa, Investigation Officer at Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station, jointly announced the arrest of Mr. Mongkol, also known as Yah Rangsit, 47, suspect in a theft case.
Among the seized items was a black Toyota Vigo pickup truck with Bangkok license plates. Upon inspection, the plates were found to be fake, and the vehicle had been reported stolen to Khlong Luang Police Station since 2010.
Additionally, six motorcycles were seized: Honda Wave 110i red, Wave 125M red, Wave 110i black-gray, Wave 125i blue-black; Kawasaki KR 150cc red; and a blue-white Kawasaki, along with 34 other items including spare parts and various listings.
Initially, the authorities charged the suspect with "theft at night using a vehicle to facilitate the crime or to transport the stolen property, and receiving stolen goods."
Police Major General Peerapol Chotiksethien, Commander of Pathum Thani Provincial Police, revealed that this arrest followed a report on 7 May 2026 from Mr. Chatree, 40, the victim, who stated that his green-white Kawasaki Serpico motorcycle, registered in Suphanburi, was stolen from his parking area in the Trichok Village, Bang Poon Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pathum Thani Province. After receiving the report, investigators reviewed CCTV footage, identifying the suspect and vehicle used, which led to the arrest at the suspect’s residence along with a large amount of seized property.
During interrogation, Mr. Mongkol confessed to acting alone in stealing motorcycles. He described parking his own motorcycle on the Prem Canal bridge, then pushing the target motorcycle onto the bridge, returning to load the stolen bike onto his pickup truck to escape back to his dormitory, where he dismantled the parts two days later.
The suspect further stated that he worked as a motorcycle taxi driver and was previously the leader of a group called “Yah Rangsit Charity Team.” They often gathered for merit-making and scholarship donations, but due to recent economic difficulties, he impulsively decided to commit the thefts to dismantle and sell parts online.
Mr. Chatree, the victim, revealed that he had parked his motorcycle in front of his house as usual on the night of 5 May 2026, only to discover it missing the next morning. Upon seeing the motorcycle dismantled into parts, he felt deeply angry at the perpetrator.
