Immigration Division 1 at Lumpini Police Station and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security launched a crackdown on prostitution in central Bangkok, revoking the visas of 10 Vietnamese women who were aggressively soliciting customers on the street and arranging their immediate deportation.
On 23 May 2026, under the direction of Pol. Maj. Gen. Prasat Khemmaprasit, Commander of Immigration Division 1, along with Pol. Col. Keeratisak Kongkiatsiri, Deputy Commander of Immigration Division 1, and Pol. Col. Phonsit Sutthiat, Chief of Investigation at Immigration Division 1, officers from the South Phra Nakhon task force led by Pol. Lt. Col. Taweesap Chaipoom and Pol. Lt. Col. Suriyo Chaiyod, investigators at Immigration Division 1, coordinated with Lumpini Police Station and officials from the Department of Women's Affairs and Family Development of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to conduct a sweep targeting foreign nationals suspected of illegal activities and to gather intelligence to prevent crimes related to the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979) and other relevant laws.
During comprehensive searches and enforcement in the Lumpini area, authorities detained a total of 10 Vietnamese women while they were contacting, soliciting, approaching, or aggressively urging individuals on public streets and places for prostitution. Such actions not only exposed them to public shame but also caused significant discomfort and nuisance to local residents and tourists passing through the area.
Officials from the Department of Women's Affairs and Family Development imposed fines on all 10 suspects, each receiving a penalty of 1,000 baht according to Section 5 of the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act.
However, legal measures did not end with the fines. After the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security completed its procedures, Lumpini Police Station immediately sent a report on the suspects’ conduct to Immigration Division 1.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Prasat Khemmaprasit, Commander of Immigration Division 1, upon review, determined that the foreigners’ behavior posed a threat to society and disrupted public order. Consequently, he signed an order to revoke the temporary permission to stay in the kingdom under Section 12 (8) of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 for all 10 Vietnamese women immediately.
They were then taken into custody and transferred to Division 3, Investigation Bureau, Immigration Police, to undergo detention procedures and be deported out of the kingdom. Additionally, they were placed on a blacklist banning their re-entry into Thailand.
