A lawyer revealed “Thaksin Shinawatra” requested to postpone his probation reporting from 25 May to 28 May 2026 and has not yet removed the EM bracelet.
On 25 May 2026, Vinyat Chatmontri, lawyer for former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, spoke about Thaksin's first probation reporting at the Bangkok Probation Office 1, stating that although the original schedule was to report on 25 May, the former prime minister has coordinated to postpone the first reporting to Thursday, 28 May instead.
At the same time, reporters received confirmation from the Department of Probation that probationers can request to postpone their reporting. This is coordinated directly between the probation officer and the probationer, with reasons for the postponement provided as part of normal procedures.
Regarding any request to remove the EM bracelet temporarily or permanently, it was emphasized that Thaksin has not submitted any documents expressing such a desire since his probation was granted. This is despite earlier reports that he had visited Rama 9 Hospital for a health check.
Generally, probationers wearing EM bracelets can apply for temporary or permanent removal. In urgent cases related to medical treatment or health issues, probationers can submit medical documents to the Department of Probation for consideration. This results in a temporary removal of the EM bracelet, with the requirement to wear it again after completing treatment.
For permanent removal, the probationer must submit a request to the subcommittee responsible for reviewing sentence suspensions. This subcommittee decides on the removal since wearing the EM bracelet until full sentence completion is a resolution of that committee.
Additionally, it was reported that Thaksin Shinawatra will need to report at Bangkok Probation Office 1 once a month for four months until his sentence ends: first on 28 May, then 27 June, 29 July, and 31 August. Each reporting date can be postponed if there is a valid reason.
