Thaksin Smiles While Reporting for First Probation Check-in, Says Health is Good for His Age

Thaksin has arrived, smiling brightly to report for his first probation check-in after it was postponed from 25 May. He continues to wear an EM bracelet and took 10 minutes for the process, revealing his health is good for an elderly person.

On 11 May 2026, Thaksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister and medium-level convicted prisoner at Klong Prem Central Prison, completed 8 months or two-thirds of his 1-year sentence. He thus qualified for probation with an EM bracelet for 4 months at Ban Chansongla, the designated probation residence, until his sentence fully ends on 9 September 2026.

On 11 May 2026, Thaksin was welcomed by the Shinawatra family, Red Shirt supporters, and key Pheu Thai Party leaders as he exited the prison gate. He greeted everyone cheerfully, raising his hands in salutation and joining in the Thai national anthem at 08:00. Afterwards, he left the prison in his personal two-tone Mercedes-Maybach S 580 e, license plate PT 4444 Bangkok, heading to the Bangkok Probation Office 1 on Wanglang Road, Ban Chang Lo subdistrict, Bangkok Noi district, to acknowledge the probation conditions from 11 May to 9 September 2026. His first probation check-in was scheduled for 25 May but was rescheduled to 28 May as previously reported.

Regarding this, at 14:09 on 28 May at Bangkok Probation Office 1 on Wanglang Road, Ban Chang Lo subdistrict, Bangkok Noi district, reporters observed Thaksin Shinawatra arrive in his two-tone Mercedes-Maybach S 580 e, license plate PT 4444 Bangkok, to meet probation officers and report for his first probation check-in since being granted probation on 11 May 2026.

Originally, Thaksin was to report on 25 May 2026 but rescheduled to 28 May 2026. Reporters noted that upon arrival, he wore a short-sleeve white shirt, dark blue jeans, and black leather closed shoes, smiling and greeting the press with a raised hand. His lawyer, Winyat Chatmontri, accompanied him. Reporters also observed Thaksin still wearing the EM bracelet on his left ankle.

When reporters asked about his condition and health, Thaksin smiled and replied, "Good, nothing special," before he and lawyer Winyat entered the Bangkok Probation Office 1 building for the check-in with probation officers.

However, reporters noticed that at around 13:30, a private car belonging to Sitti Sutheewong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Probation, arrived at Bangkok Probation Office 1 to await the former Prime Minister's report-in.

At 14:19, just 10 minutes later, Thaksin and lawyer Winyat exited the probation office building. Thaksin embraced and thanked the Red Shirt supporters who had come to encourage him since the morning and exchanged brief conversations.

Thaksin then briefly spoke with lawyer Winyat. When reporters asked how the check-in went after not seeing him for 17 days, Thaksin smiled and said, "As expected for an elderly person."

When asked if the first check-in went well, Thaksin replied, "Nothing special today, just a formality," before getting into his personal car and leaving the probation office.
