Pol. Col. Chokchai Khana Charoen, Deputy Commander of Nonthaburi Provincial Police, revealed plans to file three charges against the Director of the NACC Investigation Bureau for drunk driving that caused the death of a rider. He confirmed he is not concerned despite the suspect being a high-ranking official.
At around 23:00 on 27 May 2026, police at Bang Sri Muang Station, Nonthaburi Province, received a report that a motorcycle had been hit by a pickup truck, resulting in one fatality. The incident occurred at the Bang Rak Noi interchange on outbound Ratchaphruek Road, heading toward Route 345, Bang Rak Noi Subdistrict, Mueang Nonthaburi District. The deceased was later identified as Mr. Sornarin Nakongsi, 43, a rider. He was found in the leftmost lane with his left arm severed. Approximately 300 meters away, the damaged electric motorcycle was found parked.
The other party involved was Mr. Jorong, Director of the Investigation and Special Affairs Bureau of the NACC. Alcohol tests showed levels exceeding the legal limit. Subsequently, the NACC issued a statement clarifying that the suspect does not hold the position of Deputy Spokesperson of the NACC, contrary to previous reports.
In the latest development on 28 May 2026, Pol. Col. Chokchai Khana Charoen stated preparations to charge the suspect with three offenses: drunk driving causing death; negligence causing death under Criminal Code Section 291; and hit-and-run failure to stop, assist, and report to authorities. These constitute one act but multiple legal offenses, with the court applying the most severe penalty. Nonetheless, police will file all three charges.
After the incident, investigators conducted an alcohol test on Mr. Jorong Kraomao, 52, Director of the Investigation and Special Affairs Bureau, at the police station. A friend of Mr. Jorong, upon learning of the incident, took a taxi to the scene to clarify doubts and was also tested for alcohol, which exceeded the legal limit. However, no action was taken against this person because they did not drive but arrived by taxi. Local witnesses who were following on motorcycles feared a driver switch might occur.
The pickup truck driver has already notified authorities of his intention to surrender. Police are not concerned about the suspect’s high-ranking status since there is clear evidence of wrongdoing, supported by consistent eyewitness and physical evidence.
Nonthaburi forensic police have taken possession of the deceased's motorcycle and the pickup truck to conduct comparative inspections to support the case file.
