On 29 May 2026, regarding the case of Mr. Jongkok Kohmoa, 52, Director of the Investigation and Special Affairs Bureau of the NACC, who was driving a black Mitsubishi pickup registered in Bangkok, colliding with the rear of a gray electric motorcycle registered in Bangkok, ridden by Mr. Sornarin Nakongsi, 43, a rider, resulting in the rider’s left arm being severed and his skull fractured, causing his death. The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. on 27 May 2026 on Ratchaphruek Road, on the bridge crossing Rattanathibet Road, Bang Rak Noi Subdistrict, Mueang Nonthaburi District. Earlier this morning, Mr. Jongkok, accompanied by his lawyer, came to give a statement and acknowledge the charges as previously reported.
Regarding this matter, Police Major General Atthapol Anusit, Deputy Commissioner of Region 1 Police, said this case has attracted significant public attention. He personally oversaw the investigation and has summoned a total of five witnesses for questioning. The suspect has already come forward to acknowledge the charges. Today, witnesses related to events before the incident at a restaurant and those at the scene will be called to provide evidence, including CCTV footage, to build the case file.
Concerning claims that the driver identity might be swapped, the suspect denied this and has admitted from the start that he was the driver. However, the police must gather evidence to confirm whether the accusations are accurate. The suspect has admitted the fact that he was driving; other details will remain in the case file.
The suspect has expressed willingness to communicate with the victim’s family and provide compensation. It is known that some discussions have already occurred. Currently, the request is for everyone to trust the legal process, as investigators will summon all witnesses for questioning. Evidence has been collected and examined, with some CCTV footage from the bridge already obtained. There is sufficient evidence, and today the forensic team will further inspect the vehicle for latent fingerprints.
When asked why the suspect was released despite testing above the legal alcohol limit on the day of the incident, Police Major General Atthapol explained that the release was because the evidence was not yet conclusive, especially regarding the alleged driver switch. The breathalyzer test was conducted and data recorded, allowing for recall if necessary. Regarding why the breathalyzer was not done at the scene, the Bang Sri Muang Police Station Chief explained that the device was with traffic officers at a checkpoint, so the suspect was taken to the station for the test, as there was only one machine available.
Recently, a search of the involved vehicle uncovered one bottle of alcohol inside the suspect’s car. Charges will also be filed against one man dressed in black, and the restaurant manager where the suspect dined before the incident will be summoned. It was found that the suspect did consume alcohol—three bottles of wine, with the last bottle not finished.
