Friend of Rider Punches Director of Special Investigations Division During Condolence Visit

A friend of a rider suddenly punched Mr. Jarong, Director of the NACC Special Investigations Division, while he was holding an incense and candle tray to pay respects at the funeral at the temple. Amid the chaos, relatives quickly intervened. Mr. Jarong said he held no grudge, understood the grief, and promised to provide support to the family.

At 16:35 on 29 May 2026, Mr. Jarong Kraomoh, Director of the Special Investigations Division at the NACC, arrived at Thung Khru Temple—the site of the rider's funeral ceremony—accompanied by his wife and lawyer. He brought a wreath to pay his respects and offer apologies.

However, as Mr. Jarong was holding the incense and candle tray to offer apologies, a friend of Mr. Sornnarinn suddenly rushed forward and punched him, causing his lip to split and bleed, which led to confusion and disorder. The deceased’s elder brother, other relatives, and Mr. Jarong’s lawyer immediately intervened to stop the altercation. When Mr. Jarong stood up, it was apparent that his lip was bleeding.

Mr. Jarong then proceeded to offer apologies at the rider’s coffin and stated he did not hold any grudge over the incident, expressing understanding of emotions involved. He said that both parties’ children would be invited to the police station to record statements before the police regarding assistance arrangements. Regarding professional matters, the NACC would handle any disciplinary actions according to its procedures.

Mr. Jarong later spoke with the deceased rider’s son, who expressed a wish for assistance with land installments in Suphanburi Province, hoping to fulfill his father’s dream. Mr. Jarong promised to provide support and compensation going forward. He also gave initial financial aid to the deceased’s elder sister and apologized to the deceased’s two children, assuring them of educational support until graduation.

Relatives of the deceased confirmed that the person who punched Mr. Jarong was a friend of the deceased. They said they had already agreed among themselves to prevent any violent actions toward the other party, but despite that, the incident occurred. They apologized to Mr. Jarong for the disturbance caused.

Mr. Jarong’s lawyer requested video footage from the media and stated that although Mr. Jarong forgave the incident, the footage would be kept as evidence. He added that all actions have consequences, especially since the perpetrator was not a relative, which made this a separate matter.

As Mr. Jarong was leaving the event, a young friend of the rider who caused the incident shouted at him, "What do you want to do?" prompting relatives to intervene and stop the behavior. They asked the individual to leave the event. Afterwards, the relatives collectively apologized to Mr. Jarong, who then took his leave, promising to return for the ceremony at a later time.
