Clash in Khok Pho, Pattani: 2 Suspects Killed in Police Shootout After Failed Negotiations

In Pattani, security forces launched a dawn siege after learning that suspects were hiding in a house in Khok Pho district. Local leaders were called in to negotiate disarmament and surrender, but the suspects refused and opened fire, leading to a loud exchange of gunfire and ultimately two deaths.

At 04:00 on 4 June 2026, Colonel Thanutom Pisansitthiwat, commander of the Special Task Force of the Southern Border Provinces Ranger Forces, Colonel Natthaphon Sunthornnon, commander of the 43rd Ranger Regiment, along with a joint operations team and more than 50 police officers from Khok Pho Police Station, Pattani, led a raid on a single-story concrete house in Village No. 10, Ban Tha Khlong, Khok Pho district, Pattani.

After receiving a tip-off from informants that suspects were hiding inside the house, the forces surrounded the premises and called for those inside to come out. The homeowner and four family members emerged and were questioned. The homeowner revealed that other suspects matching the provided descriptions remained inside. The authorities then called for those suspects to surrender, but received no response.

At 05:00, the suspects inside opened fire on the officers with multiple shots, forcing them to take cover and return fire. After gunfire subsided, local leaders were invited to help negotiate and persuade the suspects to surrender. However, the suspects continued shooting intermittently, prompting ongoing exchanges of gunfire. Authorities maintained negotiation attempts but received no reply.

At 06:30, another gunfight broke out. The suspects tried to seize the chance to flee by opening the house door and firing at officers to clear their escape route. Officers responded with live fire, resulting in a loud firefight that ended with the suspects being fatally shot. The gunfire then ceased.

Authorities later inspected the scene and found two deceased suspects: Muslim Jema, 26, from Yaha district, Yala province, lying about 2 meters apart from Roasmee Dole, 28, from Mueang Pattani district. Two firearms—a 9mm and a .38 caliber—and one pipe bomb were found beside their bodies and seized as evidence.

Investigation revealed that Muslim Jema, one of the deceased suspects, had an outstanding security warrant related to the fatal shooting of Corporal Julchamti Boonchu in Village No. 4, Khok Pho district, on 25 December 2023.

Roasmee Dole had two outstanding warrants. The authorities plan to send both bodies to Khok Pho Hospital for autopsy and will coordinate with their families for proper religious funeral rites.

The seized weapons are being examined to determine if they were used in other crimes, as they are believed to be linked to multiple cases involving insurgents.

This siege resulted from leads gathered through evidence and suspect interrogations related to bombings and shootings targeting security forces. Upon identifying the suspects’ hideout, authorities launched the raid intending to arrest them. However, the suspects resisted and fought back, leading to the gunfight and their eventual deaths in the shootout.
