The 12-year-old girl confessed to police that she was the perpetrator who caused Nong Ongun's death. She initially claimed that on 30 May 2026, she and Nong Ongun had an argument at home, during which she placed a rice sack over Nong Ongun's head until she died.

During the reenactment, many villagers came to observe. One tearful villager expressed shock and disbelief that the perpetrators were Nong Ongun's own elder sister and uncle, as they had all lived normally in the village and the two were seen caring for Nong Ongun well. The villager said they did not want to believe the incident was true.
The 12-year-old elder sister remains in police custody, showing a tense demeanor. Officers brought her food, but she refused to eat.
Nong Ongun's mother does not believe her daughter and brother were responsible for the murder but accepts the forensic evidence showing fingerprints on the tricycle used to transport the body to the disposal site.
