Immigration Police Raid Chinese Restaurant in Huai Khwang Over Yuan-Only Payment Policy

Immigration police investigators from Division 1 conducted a field inspection of a Chinese restaurant in the Huai Khwang area after a Chinese influencer shared on social media that the restaurant refuses Thai baht and accepts only Chinese yuan. They arrested foreigners who had entered the country illegally and found violations under the Foreigners' Working Act.

On 6 June 2026 GMT+7, the Immigration Bureau, led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Panumas Boonylak, Commander of the Immigration Bureau, along with Pol. Maj. Gen. Prachya Prasansuk and Pol. Maj. Gen. Pantha Nuchanart, both Deputy Commanders, ordered all units under their command to intensify investigations, crackdowns, and continuous monitoring of foreign nationals' legal violations.

This action followed a case where a Chinese influencer posted on social media that a Chinese restaurant only accepts Chinese yuan and refuses Thai baht. It was later identified as the Xin Xin Lanzhou Noodle restaurant located on Pracharat Bamphen Road under Huai Khwang police jurisdiction. Pol. Maj. Gen. Prasat Khemmaprasit, Commander of Immigration Division 1, and Pol. Col. Keeratisak Kongkiatsiri, Deputy Commander of Immigration Division 1, instructed Pol. Col. Phonsit Sutthiart, Chief of Investigation Division, Immigration Division 1, to immediately verify this matter.

On 5 June 2026 GMT+7, at about 1 p.m., Immigration Division 1 coordinated with officials from the Department of Employment and the Department of Business Development to inspect the said restaurant along with four other nearby restaurants. Initial findings revealed six foreigners violating immigration laws and the Foreigners' Working Act.

At Xin Xin Lanzhou Noodle, one foreigner was arrested for illegal entry and another for violating the Foreigners' Working Act. The investigation into the restaurant's company registration is currently being conducted by the Department of Business Development.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Prasat added that upon learning of the incident via social media, he immediately ordered investigators to plan and conduct inspections. The Huai Khwang area is under continuous joint inspection and crackdown efforts with relevant agencies. Citizens who have information about foreigners violating the law are encouraged to report to the Immigration Bureau hotline at 1178.
