A young patrol police officer from Mueang Chachoengsao Police Station was found shot dead inside his apartment. Initially, colleagues revealed the deceased had personal issues and had just had an argument with his girlfriend the night before that.
At 16:30 on 8 June 2026, Lieutenant Colonel Chetthayanin Niamkrophet, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation) of Mueang Chachoengsao Police Station, received a report of a self-inflicted gunshot death inside a third-floor apartment located in Na Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chachoengsao Province. The victim was reported to be a police officer of Mueang Chachoengsao Police Station. The news was relayed to Police Major General Kriangkrai Boonsorn, Commander of Chachoengsao Provincial Police, Police Colonel Somchai Yusawat, Police Colonel Chaiphon Nathongphian, Deputy Commanders of Chachoengsao Provincial Police, and Police Colonel Pongsan Meesri, Superintendent of Mueang Chachoengsao Police Station, who proceeded to the scene along with forensic officials, the duty medical examiner from Phutthasothon Hospital, and rescue personnel from Chachoengsao.
The scene was a four-story apartment building. Inside the room, the deceased, later identified as Senior Sergeant Major Subin Yangnok, a prevention and suppression squad leader at Mueang Chachoengsao Police Station, was found sitting dead on a chair. Nearby lay a 9mm Sig Sauer handgun close to the body. A large pool of blood was found on the table in front of him.
Preliminary examination by officials found a gunshot wound to the left temple with the bullet exiting the right side, with one bullet fired. The bullet casing was found beneath the sofa next to the deceased. The room showed no signs of struggle or property disturbance. Evidence was collected to support the investigation.
Lieutenant Colonel Boontan Ketngam, Deputy Patrol Inspector at Mueang Chachoengsao Police Station and a colleague of the deceased, reported that the deceased appeared stressed over personal issues with his girlfriend. The couple had been dating for about four months and frequently argued. The officer had confided in colleagues about his troubles. The previous night (7 June 2026), he had another argument before his girlfriend left to work a shift at a hospital, leaving him alone in the apartment. It is believed the quarrel caused him distress leading to the incident. The girlfriend returned that afternoon to find he had shot himself and promptly notified the police.
Forensic doctors instructed Chachoengsao rescue officials to take the body to Phutthasothon Hospital for a detailed autopsy. The family, residing in Wang Nam Yen Subdistrict, Sa Kaeo Province, was contacted to arrange for the body’s return for funeral rites. Police will continue investigating to determine the exact cause following legal procedures.
