Thaksin Still Cannot Remove EM Bracelet, Must Wait for Court Release Order

It is revealed that Thaksin must continue wearing the EM bracelet as before until the release procedures are fully completed.

On 8 June 2026, an internal source from the Ministry of Justice disclosed that the tripartite committee under Section 21 of the Royal Decree on Royal Pardon must review the list of nationwide pardon recipients who meet the criteria. In the case of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who is under probation and has been granted a general royal pardon due to having less than one year remaining on his sentence, his status is still undergoing correctional procedures. Thonburi Special Prison must await an official court release order before Thaksin can receive a clearance document confirming his definitive release, which he must present to the Probation Office of Bangkok Region 1 to proceed with the removal of his EM bracelet upon full completion of his sentence.

Furthermore, a report from the Probation Office of Bangkok Region 1, responsible for the probation location "Ban Jan Song La" where Thaksin is supervised, confirmed that the correctional authorities or Thonburi Special Prison have not yet sent any official notification of Thaksin Shinawatra’s release to the office. Therefore, Thaksin must continue wearing the EM bracelet until the release process is completed, after which an appointment for removing the EM bracelet can be arranged.
