Hit-and-Run: Manhunt Underway for 18-Wheel Green Trailer Truck That Fatally Ran Over Female Student Recently Engaged

A green 18-wheel trailer truck ran over a Buriram Technical College student, killing her before fleeing the scene. Her mother tearfully revealed that her daughter was close to graduating, had just gotten engaged to her boyfriend, and was preparing to build a future together.

On 8 Jun 2026 at 13:35, CCTV footage from a vehicle repair shop captured a green 18-wheel trailer truck colliding with and running over a Buriram Technical College student identified later as Ms. Arinya, known as Kiwi, aged 20, a second-year vocational college student. She died instantly at the scene.

The footage was widely shared online, drawing many comments expressing sympathy for the victim, who was close to completing her vocational diploma. Many especially sympathized with Kiwi’s parents, who had only one daughter but lost her prematurely.

The atmosphere at Kiwi’s funeral at her home in Khok Klang Village, Mueang Fang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Buriram Province, was filled with sorrow. Local residents and instructors from Buriram Technical College continuously visited to offer condolences and support to her family.

Ms. Uraiwan, 39, Kiwi’s mother, said that before the incident, she drove into Buriram city and met her daughter at the technical college. They planned to go home to eat Khanom Jeen (fermented rice noodles) together. They left together, with her driving a car and her daughter riding a motorcycle.

However, her daughter turned back, presumably to retrieve something she had forgotten. Uraiwan arrived home a few minutes earlier. Shortly after, officials called to inform her that her daughter had been in an accident but did not specify its severity. Deep down, she feared the worst and rushed to the hospital, only to find her daughter lifeless.

Through tears, Uraiwan recounted that her daughter had promised to find a job to help support the family after graduation, knowing their daily struggles. Just days before, Kiwi had become engaged to her boyfriend, hoping to build a future together. She never expected her daughter to pass away so suddenly. She also wishes the truck driver would come forward to apologize and wants to ask if the driver knew he had run over her daughter, and if so, why he fled.

Returning to the scene on Nang Rong Road, heading into Buriram city, between Krasang and Sensiri intersections near a U-turn toward the Big C shopping mall, reporters interviewed Mr. Theeraphat Jaitad, 24, a mechanic and eyewitness whose account matched the CCTV footage.

At the time of the accident, heavy rain was falling. The victim’s motorcycle was making a U-turn to head toward Nang Rong or Krasang intersection. After completing the U-turn and while attempting to move into the left lane, suddenly a green trailer truck approached at high speed and struck the motorcycle with a loud impact, causing the victim’s death.

Regarding the investigation, Police Colonel Jamrat Siriliang, superintendent of Mueang Buriram Police Station, ordered the investigation team to locate the fleeing truck. Authorities believe the vehicle can be tracked down.
