The Criminal Court has scheduled the verdict hearing for "Lawyer Tum" and his wife along with their associates in the fraud case involving "Je Aoi." Panthap is monitoring three key issues, noting the case outcome could affect money laundering charges.
Today (11 Jun 2026) at 08:30, at the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road, correctional officers escorted Mr. Sittra Biebangked, also known as "Lawyer Tum," and Mrs. Patitta Biebangked, his wife, defendants in the case of conspiracy to commit fraud and money laundering against Ms. Jatuporn Ubonlert, or "Madam Aoi." The well-known wealthy woman who previously won over 5.7 billion baht in lottery prizes, from prison to the Criminal Court to hear the verdict.
Mr. Panthap Puapongphan revealed before the verdict hearing in the case where Ms. Jatuporn Ubonlert, or "Je Aoi," accused Mr. Sittra Biebangked or "Lawyer Tum" and others of criminal offenses that initially the victim side accepts the court's verdict regardless of the outcome. Throughout the past period, prosecutors, legal teams, and related parties have worked diligently for over a year to follow and gather evidence in this case.
Mr. Panthap said the trial process is now complete, with both plaintiff and defendants exercising their full rights to defend themselves under the justice process. Therefore, today's verdict must be awaited before assessing the outcome and determining the next steps. He declined to comment in advance on the case results.
"We have performed our duties fully. The plaintiff's side believes it has done its best, and the defendants likely believe they have also defended themselves fully. Ultimately, the court's verdict will determine the facts and legal issues in this case," Mr. Panthap stated.
When reporters asked about Ms. Jatuporn or Je Aoi, Mr. Panthap said she is not in Thailand today and has therefore authorized him and Ms. Atchara Saengkhaw, or "Lawyer Pui," to represent her at the verdict hearing.
Regarding the outlook for the verdict based on evidence presented in court, Mr. Panthap said it is unpredictable as the case involves multiple offenses and many details. Nevertheless, there are important issues that society should closely follow.
The first issue is that this is a case involving multiple fraud offenses, but the investigation charged Lawyer Tum with "habitual fraud," a significant and closely watched charge because if the court finds the defendant guilty of habitual fraud, it could link to money laundering charges. If not, only general fraud charges may remain.
The second issue is how the court will rule on each offense—whether to acquit or convict all or only some charges—which is an important detail to monitor.
The third issue concerns whether other defendants involved in the case will all be convicted, which will be another key aspect of today's verdict.
Mr. Panthap added that this case is important as it may set a legal precedent in the future, especially regarding the conduct of legal professionals. If the court finds that legal knowledge or professional status was used against citizens lacking legal knowledge, the court will determine the approach to adjudication and punishment, a matter society and the legal community must closely watch.
"All these are critical points to await the court's verdict today because the case outcome will have significance for legal standards and the justice process in the future," Mr. Panthap said.
