Uthai Thani experienced a shocking incident where a perpetrator ambushed and attacked a female Grade 12 student, who tragically died while riding a motorcycle to school. Police are hastening efforts to capture the suspect after finding the motorcycle dragged and concealed in roadside bushes.
At approximately 06:30 on 12 June 2026, police at Sawang Arom Police Station received a report of a female student stabbed and slashed, who later died at Sawang Arom Hospital. The incident occurred on the Bo Yang–Nong Takian Road, Moo 11, Ban Nong Si Liam, Bo Yang Subdistrict, Sawang Arom District, Uthai Thani Province.
Upon receiving the report, authorities promptly arrived at the scene, accompanied by Pol. Maj. Gen. Pongsak Sukim, National Police Advisor and Acting Deputy Commander of Uthai Thani Provincial Police; Pol. Col. Krairiket Ketwijit, Chief of Sawang Arom Police Station; Pol. Lt. Col. Songjak Prapatsorn, Deputy Chief of Operations; along with investigation teams from Sawang Arom Police Station, Uthai Thani Provincial Police, and forensic officers from Uthai Thani Province.
At the scene, investigators found a trail of blood drops along the road, likely from a struggle, before discovering a Honda motorcycle with license plate 1 ก ฉ 1230 Uthai Thani, overturned in the roadside bushes. The motorcycle appeared to have been dragged off the road. Additionally, a mobile phone, glasses, and slippers were found dropped nearby and collected by officials as evidence.
Mr. Somsak (surname withheld), the victim's uncle, revealed that Nong Namwan (a pseudonym) lived with her father alone and was a diligent student. Every morning, she rode her motorcycle to school, and her father regularly watched her pass through the area where the incident occurred.
Afterward, the victim's father heard his daughter calling for help and rushed to assist her, finding her assaulted beside the road. She was then taken to Bo Yang Health Center and transferred to the hospital but later died.
Mr. Patithan, a neighbor, stated that the victim was a good-natured and hardworking child who often earned extra income during holidays. His wife heard cries for help and went out to check the situation. They learned from the victim's father that the assailant wore clothing resembling a scout uniform and fled the scene after the attack.
Initially, police are considering multiple motives, including robbery or other behavioral causes, while continuing to gather evidence and track down the perpetrator for prosecution.
