Cyber Police Warn to Watch World Cup Wisely and Creatively, Avoid Gambling Websites, Focus on Athletes Skills

"Deputy Jae, the Cyber Crime Fighter," warns viewers to watch the World Cup with awareness and creativity, encouraging them to appreciate the skills of world-class athletes and strictly avoid gambling. Those who participate, organize, or own gambling websites are subject to legal penalties and may also be implicated in money laundering.

On 12 June 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Maj. Gen. Chatchapan Kan Klai-Klueng, Deputy Commander of the Cyber Crime Suppression Division, stated that the division has received directives from the Royal Thai Police Commander to intensify the crackdown on gambling during the 2026 World Cup. All command units have been ordered to report their anti-gambling activities related to the World Cup to the operations center for comprehensive data collection.

The Cyber Crime Suppression Division has cyber patrol teams monitoring online gambling websites continuously. They remain vigilant at their screens and will take immediate legal action if any leads or evidence are found.

The public is also reminded that those caught gambling face penalties including up to one year in prison, fines up to 1,000 baht, or both.
Organizers or operators of gambling activities or online gambling websites face harsher penalties ranging from two to five years in prison and fines between 20,000 and 100,000 baht. These offenses may also constitute predicate crimes for money laundering.

"It is better not to gamble. Watch the World Cup constructively by appreciating the skills of world-class athletes as inspiration for youth. Also, watch the live broadcasts through companies that hold legal broadcasting rights. Avoid watching through illegal websites or unauthorized channels."
