A tragic accident occurred when a concrete mixer truck ran over a young rider's motorcycle, injuring him while his girlfriend riding as a passenger was crushed and killed under the wheel of the truck.
On 13 June 2026, it was reported that at 20:40 on 12 June, Police Sub-Lieutenant Chanayut Pongkham, Deputy Investigator at Bang Bua Thong Police Station, along with officials from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, arrived to investigate after receiving reports of a concrete mixer truck running over a motorcycle, resulting in injuries and a fatality. The incident occurred on New Chaiphruek Road outbound near the entrance to the Department of Lands office in Bang Bua Thong Subdistrict, Bang Bua Thong District. They coordinated with a forensic doctor from the Institute of Forensic Science to assist in the investigation.
At the scene, officials found a gray Yamaha NMAX motorcycle registered in Bangkok with a green food delivery box crushed under the front of a concrete mixer truck registered in Pathum Thani. Near the truck's left rear wheel lay the body of a 19-year-old woman named Ms. Atcharia, who had been run over by the truck. Meanwhile, the injured rider, Mr. Sippakorn, 21, her boyfriend, was receiving initial first aid from rescue workers before being rushed to Bang Bua Thong Hospital.
Mr. Sippakorn, the rider, said he was driving to pick up a delivery order with his girlfriend riding as a passenger. On the way, they stopped briefly to buy some food before continuing to the pickup location. When they reached the accident site, a curved entrance to a soi, he was following the vehicle ahead, with the concrete mixer truck behind them. Suddenly, the truck struck them from behind, causing them to fall. He was thrown clear, but his girlfriend was trapped under the truck’s chassis. He confirmed he was definitely hit from behind.
Ms. Kalyarat, 44, a bystander, said that while riding her motorcycle into the soi along with other vehicles, she saw the young couple’s motorcycle ahead of the concrete mixer truck. After passing out of sight, she noticed something unusual as the motorcycle had stopped moving. She then rode forward and discovered the motorcycle had been hit and crushed by the concrete mixer truck.
Mr. Sitthichok, 49, the concrete mixer truck driver, said that while turning into the curved soi, he did not see the motorcycle. He initially heard an unusual noise, which he thought was a mechanical problem, but then heard loud screams. He immediately stopped the truck and got out to find an accident had occurred. He insisted that he had checked his side mirrors during the turn and did not see the motorcycle.
Police officials said they had documented the scene and questioned the concrete mixer truck driver, who maintained that he did not see the motorcycle. Authorities will review nearby CCTV footage and conduct further questioning of the truck driver. The deceased’s body was handed over to the Poh Teck Tung Foundation to be sent to the Institute of Forensic Science for an autopsy.
