
A brutal husband who killed and dismembered his wife in central Bangkok's Ratchaprarop area has been arrested. Cooperation with Myanmar police led to his capture in Yangon. Deputy Chief "Rong Yae" went to the Mae Sot checkpoint to retrieve him and is holding him for legal prosecution.
The case involves the discovery of the body of Ms. AYE AYE NWE, 34, a Myanmar national and bar waitress in Khlong Toei, who was killed and dismembered, her remains stuffed into a plastic box and left outside the balcony of a rented room in Soi Ratchaprarop 14, Makkasan subdistrict, Ratchathewi district, Bangkok, in the early hours of 12 June. CCTV footage showed Mr. AUNG PYAE, 36, a Myanmar national and pub cook in Phetchaburi area, the victim's husband, calling a van service from Bangkok to Mae Sot district, Tak province, to pick him up at the entrance to Soi Ratchaprarop 14 to flee. It is believed he fled back to his hometown through the Mae Sot border crossing after becoming enraged over his wife's infidelity with another man.
Subsequently, investigators from Din Daeng Police Station submitted evidence to the Criminal Court on Ratchadapisek Road, which approved an arrest warrant No. Jor.3342/2569 dated 12 June 2026 against Mr. AUNG PYAE on charges of intentional murder and concealment, relocation, or destruction of a corpse to hide the death.
Most recently, at 12:00 on 13 June 2026, Pol. Maj. Gen. Chotiwat Luangwilai, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau's Special Investigation Division, Pol. Maj. Gen. Worasak Phisitbanakorn, Commander of Police Region 1, Pol. Col. Sakya Saengwan, Deputy Commander of Police Region 1, Pol. Col. Wichai Sonsakul, Chief of Investigation Division 1, Pol. Col. Pasit Kateueng-ngan, Chief of Din Daeng Police Station, coordinated with Myanmar police to arrest Mr. AUNG PYAE, the brutal murderer who dismembered his wife, in Yangon.
Pol. Col. Sakya Saengwan, Deputy Commander of Police Region 1, along with officers, is preparing to travel to the immigration checkpoint in Mae Sot district, Tak province, to bring the suspect into custody for interrogation and legal proceedings.
