
The Border Patrol Police Headquarters has suspended a Border Patrol Police officer from the 21st Battalion who shot a motorcycle taxi driver in the Huai Khwang area, resulting in one death and two injuries, and has set up an investigation committee.
On 14 Jun 2026 GMT+7, the Border Patrol Police Headquarters issued a statement saying, “Regarding the incident reported in news and video clips on various social media platforms on 14 Jun 2026 GMT+7 involving the use of a firearm in the Din Daeng area of Bangkok,
the Border Patrol Police Headquarters would like to inform that initial fact-finding shows the perpetrator is Police Senior Sergeant Major Namthap (surname withheld), assigned to the 21st Border Patrol Police Battalion. At the time of the incident, he was on leave for personal business. On 14 June 2026 at approximately 02:25 AM, in front of Soi Prachasongkroh 38, Police Senior Sergeant Major Namthap got into an altercation with motorcycle taxi drivers and used a firearm, as shown in media reports. Currently, he is under the custody of investigators at Huai Khwang Police Station to proceed with legal action. The 21st Battalion has formed an investigative committee and recommended his suspension pending investigation.
