Police Chief Emphasizes Fair Prosecution in \Border Patrol Police\ Shooting at Huai Khwang No Protection If Guilty

The Royal Thai Police express condolences regarding the shooting incident in the Huai Khwang area. The Police Chief has ordered a straightforward and transparent investigation with no protection offered. If any police officer is found guilty, they will face both disciplinary and criminal penalties. He also instructed proactive resolution of conflicts in public areas.

On 15 June 2026, Police Lieutenant General Trairong Phiwpan, Deputy Inspector General of the Royal Thai Police and spokesperson, stated that a shooting occurred near Soi Prachasongkhro 38 in Huai Khwang district, Bangkok, resulting in one death and two injuries. The suspect has surrendered to police and is preliminarily identified as a police officer from the Border Patrol Police Bureau.

The Royal Thai Police express condolences to the family of the deceased and send support to all injured parties. Police Chief Kittirat Phanphet has instructed investigators to thoroughly collect all evidence to ensure fairness for all involved.

Police Lieutenant General Trairong revealed that the Police Chief has directed the Metropolitan Police Bureau and Huai Khwang Police Station to conduct the case based strictly on evidence, ensuring transparency and fairness. There is a strict ban on any assistance, interference, or discrimination in the case.

If investigations show the police officer indeed committed wrongdoing, he will face both criminal prosecution and disciplinary action without exception, just like any ordinary citizen.

Furthermore, the Police Chief has ordered relevant agencies to swiftly analyze the causes and environmental factors of the incident to establish preventive measures against violence in public spaces, especially community centers, occupational gathering points, and areas with repeated complaints of conflicts or aggressive behavior.

The Royal Thai Police spokesperson added that the police force prioritizes maintaining ethical and disciplinary standards for all officers, emphasizing that the actions of any individual should not undermine public trust in the majority of police personnel who perform their duties with integrity.
