Mother-in-Law Fatally Stabs Son-in-Law After He Steals and Sells Her Vehicle, Known for Abusing Wife While Drunk

In Yasothon, a mother-in-law fatally stabbed her son-in-law's head while he was lying in the middle of the house. He then fled desperately into a nearby forest and died. She admitted her anger was caused by him stealing her motorcycle to sell, and he was known for being drunk, violent, and abusive to his wife.

At 09:00 on 15 June 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Adul Suwarotwarakit, an investigator at Loeng Nok Tha Police Station, was notified of a fatal assault near a road close to Khok Sung village, Samakkhi subdistrict, Loeng Nok Tha district, Yasothon province. He coordinated with the duty doctor from Somdet Phra Yupharat Loeng Nok Tha Hospital and rescue personnel from Phra Mae Loeng Nok Tha to investigate the scene.

At the scene, the body of Mr. Sithisak Jaitam, 28, was found lying dead by the roadside leading into Khok Sung village. He was wearing only shorts without a shirt, lying in a pool of blood. His head and the back of his neck showed multiple wounds from a sharp weapon with heavy bleeding that caused his death. The perpetrator was none other than the victim’s mother-in-law, waiting for police at her home nearby. She was identified as Mrs. Suphaksorn Chomphuthep, 48.

Mrs. Suphaksorn, the suspect, revealed that she attacked her son-in-law with a machete because she was upset that he stole her motorcycle to sell and pawned her car. Additionally, he frequently became violent when drunk, abusing his wife regularly. She said she had long harbored resentment. The previous night, they had a heated argument which intensified her anger. After separating for the night, she saw him still asleep on the floor the next morning, lying on his side. In a fit of rage, she grabbed a machete lying in the house and repeatedly struck his head. He fled desperately from the house but collapsed and died shortly afterward a short distance away by the roadside.

Police then took Mrs. Suphaksorn Chomphuthep into custody along with the machete used in the attack for interrogation at Loeng Nok Tha Police Station. She was formally charged with intentional homicide and will face legal proceedings accordingly.
