Former Boyfriend Turns Himself In After 19-Year-Old Ex-Girlfriend Found Dead in Mun River Admits Pressure Led to Her Breaking Point

A 23-year-old man, former boyfriend of a 19-year-old woman found dead in the Mun River, has surrendered to police, admitting he pressured her until she could no longer endure it. The haunting images from the incident remain vivid. Police have filed three charges. The man's father tearfully apologized to the victim's family and society.

In the case of "Nong Wa," a 19-year-old female student who ended her life by jumping from a bridge over the Mun River after her ex-boyfriend threatened to release private photos, she had previously reported the threat to authorities as evidence out of fear for her safety. Police Colonel Saksri Krairath, Chief of Ubon Ratchathani City Police Station, had warned the man, who promised to stop his behavior.

Meanwhile, Nong Wa’s father and aunt said that before the incident, she had dinner with them as usual, showing no signs of depression or risky behavior. She never spoke to her family about the man, only confiding in others, until the tragic event occurred.

Regarding funeral arrangements, the family has yet to set a definite date as they await Nong Wa’s mother’s return from abroad.

Mrs. Lakkhanung Kamlimat, 46, the heartbroken aunt, recalled receiving the tragic news. At first, she did not believe it, thinking it was a scam call, until Nong Wa’s father confirmed that she really had jumped from the bridge. Gathering her composure, she went to the scene with faint hope, recalling that just the previous Friday, Nong Wa had dined with them normally, showing no signs of depression or risk.

The aunt, full of doubt and pain, said that Nong Wa never shared her romantic troubles with the man with family members, only confiding in others until the tragedy happened. She pleaded with the police to urgently apprehend the man and prosecute him strictly under the law and to come apologize to Nong Wa’s body one last time.

Nong Wa’s older sister said she was always diligent and strong, never a burden to the family. Just one day before the incident, Nong Wa called to ask for phone credit to deal with the ex-boyfriend who was threatening and harassing her. The sister believes Nong Wa bore heavy pressure from chat messages and videos threatened to be exposed on social media, despite the man claiming he deleted them, which the family does not trust.

In the latest development, on the morning of 17 June 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Kamphan, Nong Wa’s father, filed a complaint with the Ubon Ratchathani City Police against Mr. Anucha, or "Pond," the ex-boyfriend, on charges under the Computer Crime Act and sexual harassment. Legal advisor Police Lieutenant Colonel Pramot Chuentha, Mr. Charnwit Yodsinh, owner of the Facebook page 'Baan Hia Charn Ubon,' and a network of volunteer civic groups in Ubon attended to follow up on the case.

Officials spent over two hours questioning the suspect. Afterward, Mr. Charnwit donated 46,400 baht raised from selling amulets of Khun Paen Prai Kumarn to Mr. Kamphan to help cover funeral expenses. Police Colonel Saksri Krairath witnessed the handover, deeply touching the grieving family.

At 4:00 p.m., the investigative team at Ubon Ratchathani City Police Station took Mr. Anucha, aged 23, into custody voluntarily. He confessed that he and the victim had dated for about five months before she wanted to break up due to lost feelings. Unable to accept this, he tried to persist. Regarding the private photos, he admitted they did exist but said he had deleted them.

Mr. Anucha testified that he tried to hold her back by coercively demanding that if she wanted to end things, she had to come back to talk and stop seeing new people. He acknowledged that his behavior caused Nong Wa significant stress, even sending her images of self-inflicted wounds, but he did not stop, which ultimately led to the tragic outcome.

Mr. Anucha expressed deep sorrow, saying he has been unable to sleep since the incident because the image of Nong Wa jumping haunts him constantly. He said that if he could turn back time, he would never do such a thing and apologized to the victim’s family, urging society not to use coercion or threats in relationships.

The father of Mr. Pond, who came with his son, tearfully apologized to Nong Wa’s parents and society for what happened. He said he was unaware of the deep nature of their relationship and only knew that Nong Wa had asked his son to delete photos. He had warned his son but never expected the situation to escalate to threats and harassment. He was devastated when he received a call from his son on the morning of the incident informing him that Nong Wa had died.

Regarding the case progress, Police Colonel Saksri stated that after gathering evidence from the family and volunteer networks, authorities are preparing to charge Mr. Pond with three offenses: causing fear or alarm by threats, sexual harassment, and violations under the Computer Crime Act, to proceed with legal action.
