Police Chief and Deputy Lead Metropolitan Force into Phetchabram Community to Strengthen Drug-Free Neighborhoods

Police Major General Siam Boonsom, Police Chief of Metropolitan Police, together with Deputy Commissioner Police Major General Theeradej Thammasuthi, known as “Deputy Jor” and responsible for drug affairs, led the Metropolitan Police and partner networks into Phetchabram community to continue royal initiatives aimed at improving quality of life and building strong, drug-free communities.

On 20 June 2026, Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, Metropolitan Police Chief, along with Police Major General Theeradej Thammasuthi, Deputy Metropolitan Police Chief and head of drug-related operations, Police Major General Warasak Phisitbunrakorn, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 1, Somboon Khruekeeratitham, Director of Huai Khwang District, Police Colonel Aekpop Tanprayoon and Police Colonel Sakya Saengwan, Deputy Commanders of Metropolitan Police Division 1, Police Colonel Uramphon Khundechsamrit, Superintendent of Makkasan Police Station, Police Colonel Worapot Rungkrajang, Deputy Commander of Investigation Bureau, Metropolitan Police, Assistant Director of the Metropolitan Police Narcotics Suppression Center, and Police Lieutenant Thanypeerasit Chulphiphop, Investigator of Narcotics Suppression Division 3, joined to inaugurate activities within Phetchabram community, under the Saen Saeb canal development project following royal initiatives and the sustainable community project.




Phetchabram community is a large settlement along the Saen Saeb canal, with over 320 households and a population exceeding 1,000 residents.

This event was organized with cooperation from officers of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), private sector partners, the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, and volunteer citizens working together in Phetchabram community, Makkasan subdistrict, Bangkok, to improve residents' quality of life alongside building resilience and preventing drug problems in a concrete manner.




This field activity is part of the Metropolitan Police Headquarters' policy to prevent and solve drug problems, focusing on close community engagement, strengthening families and neighborhoods, and simultaneously enhancing quality of life to lay the foundation for a strong, safe, and sustainable society.

The event featured activities under the theme “Coloring Dreams, Understanding Drugs,” distributing essential consumer goods, educational materials, and health services to local residents. Support came from various sectors including Phra Pipitphatthanathorn (Luang Pho Somchai Chantasaro), abbot of Pariwat Ratchasongkram Temple, who donated rice; Phra Khrusatkitchanukul, assistant abbot of Uthaitharam Temple, who provided food stalls; the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, which donated rice, dry food, adult diapers, common medicines, wheelchairs, and other necessary items; as well as government agencies, private sector groups, and volunteer citizens who jointly organized the activities to benefit the community extensively.




Additionally, the Metropolitan Police leadership, together with partner networks and volunteers, visited bedridden patients, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable families within the community to deliver essential supplies and boost morale for those unable to attend the main event, demonstrating genuine care and outreach in all dimensions.

Phetchabram community is among the areas along the Saen Saeb canal that have been developed and rehabilitated following royal initiatives to elevate the quality of life for residents on both sides of the canal. The focus includes environmental improvement, landscape development, water management, and enhancing community safety. The Metropolitan Police Headquarters has adopted these approaches in tandem with promoting white community initiatives and concrete drug prevention efforts.
Police Major General Theeradej Thammasuthi, Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police and spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, stated that sustainable drug problem solutions must be accompanied by improving people's quality of life, creating opportunities, strengthening families, and providing space for community self-care. The Metropolitan Police Headquarters will continuously advance these policies to help build Bangkok into a safe, livable city free from drugs, aligning with the government's directives led by National Police Chief Police General Kittirat Phanpetch and Deputy National Police Chief and Director of the Narcotics Control Center Police General Samran Nuanma.



This initiative reflects the collaborative power of all sectors in carrying forward royal initiatives into practical action, utilizing quality of life development alongside drug prevention as key mechanisms to build strong communities that will lead to a safe and sustainable society for residents in the long term.
