Locals have revealed a local exam corruption case where a "broker" in Phatthalung was attacked at his home after accepting money but failing to include the payer’s name on the passing list, refusing to refund the money.
On 24 Jun 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that cyber police and the National Anti-Corruption Commission raided a house in central Thailand tied to a local exam cheating network involving government officials, as previously reported.
In Phatthalung Province, there has been much public criticism because a candidate claimed to have paid half of 650,000 baht to a broker to ensure passing. The agreement was that the remaining payment would be made after the results were announced with their name listed. However, when results came out, their name was missing, so they demanded a refund from the broker but did not get it. Angered, they fired a gun at the broker’s house, causing damage.
Regarding this matter, reporters visited the said house but did not find the person involved, only meeting the 76-year-old mother, who initially said she did not believe her son was the broker as alleged, reasoning that if he were, he would be wealthy and well-off by now.
Meanwhile, locals in Ban Na Subdistrict, Srinagarindra District, Phatthalung, confirmed the shooting at the official’s house was real but quietly suppressed. The official acted as a broker collecting money for another broker nearby, forwarding it to central Thailand. Many who paid money but did not pass and whose names were missing demanded refunds but were refused, leading to the shooting as intimidation.
Reports also say there are about 9-10 local exam brokers in Srinagarindra District collecting money from nearly 800 candidates, both those who passed and failed. Reporters tried visiting the mentioned brokers’ houses but found no one.
