Manhunt Intensifies for Two Gunmen Who Shot at Phatthalung Brokers House Over Local Exam Fraud Debt

Phatthalung police are intensifying their manhunt for two gunmen who fired at a broker's house, suspected to be related to a dispute over money linked to local government exam fraud. Investigations are being expanded.

On 25 Jun 2026 GMT+7, reporters from Phatthalung Province reported updates on a case where two armed assailants shot at a residence in Ban Na Municipality, Srinagarindra District, Phatthalung. The house was damaged after the attackers expressed anger over being unable to reclaim money following failed local government exam results.

Reporters spoke with Police Colonel Natthapak Nuido, Chief of Srinagarindra Police Station, about the incident. The chief confirmed the shooting at the house did occur, noting it happened in mid-June. Two days later, around 17 Jun 2026 GMT+7, the homeowner filed a police report.

The case remains under investigation, requiring time for police work. Authorities found the two suspects fled on a motorcycle heading toward Kong Ra District, Phatthalung. Regarding links to a broker involved in collecting illicit payments for local government exams, the police only learned these details from media reports today.

When reporters asked whether the homeowner or others living there held local government positions or had financial ties or behavior suggesting involvement as reported, the police said a thorough investigation is needed. Given the news coverage, reexamination is essential. Besides local police, the Crime Suppression Division has dispatched a team to assist with the inquiry.

Another victim who paid the broker described the process for applying for the local government exam involving three payment steps. After failing the exam, the victim was not listed as passing and sought a refund of the 350,000 baht paid. Despite providing proof to the broker, the broker deflected responsibility, claiming they needed to consult higher authorities first.
