DSI to File Additional Charges Against Chonnapat After Parliamentary Session Ends

The DSI is preparing to file additional charges. "Chonnapat" Charges include gang membership, with a maximum prison sentence of 7 years, and involvement in a transnational criminal organization, punishable by up to 15 years in prison.


26 June 2026 GMT+7The Department of Special Investigation's websitehas announced the following: "The Attorney General has ordered the DSI to pursue additional charges against six individuals in the online gambling network linked to a well-known politician." It stated that the DSI revealed progress in the investigation of the online gambling network associated with Mr. Chonnapat. After the special investigation officers completed their inquiry and submitted the case files to the prosecutors on 14 May 2026,

the Attorney General has recently instructed to proceed with charges against six additional individuals involved in the network. All six are connected to the online gambling operation. The DSI has issued an arrest warrant for one person, while investigations on the remaining five continue following the Attorney General's recommendations. The charges include gang membership, organizing unauthorized electronic gambling, conspiracy involving two or more persons to commit money laundering, actual money laundering offenses, and participation in a transnational criminal organization.

The DSI's Technology and Information Crime Division has already taken legal action against several suspects, most of whom operate from neighboring countries. The special investigation team will intensify efforts to track, examine, and expand the investigation of financial flows and related assets alongside pursuing the legal case to ensure effective and comprehensive law enforcement.

Regarding Mr. Chonnapat, since the House of Representatives session is still ongoing, the DSI will file the additional charges after the session concludes.

The additional charges to be filed include gang membership under Section 209 of the Criminal Code, punishable by up to 7 years in prison, and involvement in a transnational criminal organization under Section 5 of the Act on Prevention and Suppression of Participation in Transnational Criminal Organizations B.E. 2556 (2013), punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment.
