He abandoned and concealed the body in a forest beside a railway track in Chonburi province, claiming self-defense. Pattaya City police have charged him with four serious offenses.

In the case of a 17-year-old girl who mysteriously disappeared before being found murdered and stuffed into a suitcase abandoned in a grassy forest beside a railway track in Chonburi, police swiftly arrested a foreign man suspected of being the last person with the victim while he was buying a plane ticket to return to his country, as previously reported. The 17-year-old girl was killed and stuffed into a suitcase in Chonburi; police arrested a foreign suspect at the airport..

At 09:00 on 27 June 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Kanoknan Suksri, an investigator at Pattaya City Police Station, took Simon Peter Carman, a 46-year-old Australian national, in for further questioning. He is suspected of killing Miss Thanchanok, 17, from Kalasin province, who died inside a 15th-floor condominium room in Jomtien Soi 2. The body was stuffed into a suitcase and discarded beside a railway track near Khao Makok Soi, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi, approximately 4.2 km from the crime scene.

He then returned to the condo, quickly packed his clothes, and headed to Suvarnabhumi Airport intending to flee the country. However, he was intercepted and arrested at the airport by police. The Pattaya Provincial Court initially issued an arrest warrant charging him with "abducting a minor under 18 years old from parental or guardian custody without reasonable cause for lewd purposes." He was then taken back to Pattaya City Police Station for further interrogation.

During the interrogation, Simon Peter Carman appeared visibly tense, accompanied by his lawyer and interpreter. Later, he surrendered to the evidence, including CCTV footage showing him dragging the suitcase and loading it onto a motorcycle to dispose of the body. He confessed in a statement that he was the perpetrator but claimed he acted in self-defense.

Simon Peter Carman initially stated that around 3:00 a.m. on 25 June, he met the victim at Jomtien Beach. They agreed to go to his condominium room together, but once inside, the victim received a phone call and then said she was uncomfortable staying. She also mentioned she was menstruating and wanted to leave, requesting 500 baht as compensation for her time. While he reached to give her the money, she changed her mind and demanded more, which he refused, leading to a heated argument.

During the argument, it is unclear where the victim obtained a knife, but she threatened him with it at his throat. A struggle ensued over the knife. He admitted to squeezing her neck with his right hand while holding her knife-wielding hand with his left. During this, she became motionless. Realizing she had died, he stuffed her body into a suitcase and left it in the bathroom for over a day. Unsure what to do next, he decided to place the suitcase in the motorcycle’s trunk and discard it beside the railway track. He expressed remorse to the victim’s family and insisted he did not intend to kill her, only acting in self-defense.

At 10:50 a.m., investigators collected evidence and took Simon Peter Carman’s fingerprints. They filed four serious charges: intentional homicide, concealment and disposal of a corpse, abduction, and taking a minor aged over 15 but under 18 for lewd purposes. He was then sent to Pattaya Provincial Court for an initial detention hearing. Meanwhile, Pol. Maj. Gen. Phongphan Wongmanithets, Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, was expected to arrive this afternoon to conclude and close the case.
