
Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong emphasized the readiness to maintain security and order in managing the elections for Bangkok Metropolitan Council members, Bangkok Governor, Pattaya City Council members, and Pattaya Mayor, stating that the overall situation is proceeding smoothly and peacefully.
Today (28 June 2026), Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwpan, Deputy Inspector General of the Royal Thai Police and spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police Headquarters, disclosed that at 09:30 hrs, Pol. Gen. Samran Nuamma, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, assigned relevant units to convene a preparedness meeting to oversee security, order, and monitor the elections for Bangkok Metropolitan Council members, Bangkok Governor, Pattaya City Council members, and Pattaya Mayor at the Royal Thai Police Operations Center.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong visited the site to inquire about the election status for Bangkok Metropolitan Council members and Bangkok Governor at the Metropolitan Police Bureau Operations Center. The meeting included Pol. Maj. Gen. Attaporn Wongsiripreeda, Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, alongside deputy commanders of the bureau’s administrative division and other relevant officials.
The spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police said he attended today to publicize the readiness in ensuring security and smooth conduct of the elections for Bangkok Metropolitan Council members and Bangkok Governor.
Under the direction of Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police; Pol. Gen. Samran Nuamma, Deputy Commissioner-General; and Pol. Lt. Gen. Surapong Thanomjit, Assistant Commissioner-General, the Metropolitan Police Bureau, led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Attaporn Wongsiripreeda, Deputy Commissioner responsible for security, prepared personnel and security measures to facilitate and maintain order during the elections.
The Metropolitan Police Bureau deployed a total of 9,589 officers assigned as security personnel at polling stations, rapid response teams at polling stations and police stations, traffic facilitation units, and investigative officers at election centers to be ready for all situations throughout the election period.
Before election day, the Metropolitan Police Bureau received reports of seven election-related offenses: two cases of theft of campaign signs, four cases of damage to campaign signs, and one case involving the unauthorized removal of documents. All cases are currently under legal investigation.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong disclosed that for the Pattaya City Council and Mayor elections, Provincial Police Region 2 through Chonburi Provincial Police deployed 364 officers to secure and facilitate 113 polling stations in Pattaya. The overall situation is proceeding smoothly.
Additionally, the spokesperson stated that the Royal Thai Police Headquarters, Metropolitan Police Bureau, and Provincial Police Region 2 are fully prepared to maintain security, uphold order, and support the election management efficiently. Officers are instructed to perform their duties with political neutrality and strictly enforce election laws to prevent and suppress election-related offenses seriously, ensuring a smooth, transparent election that builds public confidence.
Following this, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong, together with Pol. Maj. Gen. Attaporn and Pol. Lt. Col. Nipon Yithikarnlert, Superintendent of Chana Songkhram Police Station, inspected police operations at polling stations 4 to 7 at Wat Trithotep on Prachathipatai Road.
