The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) conducted an on-site inspection of evidence in the case of a female flight attendant arrested for heroin trafficking in Australia. The mother revealed her daughter sent 10,000 baht monthly for expenses and car installments, denying knowledge of her personal matters.
Following reports of a Thai female airline crew member arrested by Australian authorities on drug charges, the ONCB has continued an ongoing investigation to expand the case.
On 30 Jun 2026 GMT+7, ONCB officers, together with Phu Kam Yao Police Station personnel, inspected a residence in Phayao Province to gather information and examine evidence under legal procedures, finding the mother and stepfather living there.
Preliminary inquiries revealed the family stated the daughter held a bachelor's degree and had interned in the airline industry before working at Thai Airways. She typically returned home only occasionally. Regarding her personal relationships, the family asserted they had no knowledge or detailed information.
The flight attendant's mother added that her daughter regularly transferred about 10,000 baht monthly to cover family expenses, part of which was used to pay installments on a private vehicle registered in the mother's name. The daughter possessed and used the car. Authorities recorded statements and financial transaction details to support evidence collection involving related persons as part of the ongoing investigation.
The ONCB, under the Ministry of Justice, stated this action is part of evidence gathering to establish a comprehensive understanding of the facts. Those involved remain subjects under judicial examination with no conclusions or judgments yet. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.
Meanwhile, reporters noted that the flight attendant's mother said she learned of her daughter's arrest after embassy officials called to inform her.
Additionally, the news team learned that the flight attendant is of Japanese descent, as her father is mixed-race, though her parents separated during her childhood. Neighbors declined interviews due to the sensitive nature but described her as a well-behaved, attractive, academically gifted young woman who long dreamed of being a flight attendant. They firmly believe she had no intention to import drugs and suspect she was unknowingly hired to carry goods without knowing they were illegal.
