Two Uzbek Men Caught at Phuket Airport Hiding Cannabis Buds and Resin Packed in Suitcases

Two Uzbek men were caught at Phuket Airport hiding cannabis buds and resin inside their suitcases as they prepared to fly out of the country but were apprehended.

On 2 July 2026, reporters learned that Phuket International Airport customs officers, working with related agencies, arrested two Uzbek nationals after discovering dried cannabis buds and cannabis products concealed within their luggage as they prepared to leave the country without authorization.

The first suspect is Mr. Jalilboyevich Bunyodboy Juraboev, 26, Uzbek national. During baggage inspection on the first floor of the international departure terminal, authorities found two suspicious suitcases out of four total. Upon searching, they discovered 30 vacuum-sealed packs of dried cannabis buds weighing 9.8 kilograms including packaging, and 14 blocks of processed cannabis weighing 1.03 kilograms including packaging.

The second suspect is Mr. Mukhiddinovich Nursayid Mukhiddinov, also 26, Uzbek national. Inspecting luggage on the third floor of the international departure terminal, officers found 30 packs of cannabis buds weighing 9.8 kilograms including packaging, eight bags of cannabis resin weighing 4.1 kilograms including packaging, and one pack containing five blocks and nine pieces of processed cannabis weighing 2 kilograms including packaging.

Officers invited both passengers, who claimed ownership of all the luggage, to inspect the contents. They consented to the search, which confirmed the items matched those seen on the X-ray scans.

Initially, authorities charged them with "attempting to export goods from the kingdom without customs clearance" under the Customs Act B.E. 2560 (2017), along with violations under the Narcotics Act and the Ministry of Public Health's Controlled Herbal Products announcement concerning cannabis.

After the arrests, officials detained both suspects along with the seized items and handed them over to investigators at Sakoo Police Station for legal action. The case is under the supervision and direction of

Police Colonel Salan Santisasanakul, Chief of Sakoo Police Station, who oversees the investigation. The officers are proceeding with legal steps accordingly.
