Investigation into Former Son-in-Laws Triple Homicide Claims Self-Defense After Victims Caught Him Burgling

The Crime Suppression Division interrogated a former son-in-law who killed a family of three—father, mother, and child—claiming self-defense after the victims caught him sneaking in to steal from their home. He then buried the bodies to conceal the crime. Deputy Commissioner "Big Moo" of the Crime Suppression Division, along with the division chief, organized the Hanuman task force to escort the suspect to the burial site and personally search for the bodies.

At 12:30 PM on 2 July 2026, Pol. Maj. Gen. Suwat Saengnum, Deputy Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, Pol. Maj. Gen. Patthanasak Bupphasuwan, Chief of the Crime Suppression Division, Pol. Col. Pathak Khwanna, Deputy Chief, Pol. Col. Eksit Pansita, Commander of Division 4, and special operations officers from the Hanuman task force escorted Mr. Samart Pruksaa, 42, the suspect in the triple homicide of a local family in Phaisali District, Nakhon Sawan Province, to the burial site in a cassava field in Village 6, Khok Tak Nam, Khok Duea Subdistrict, Phaisali District. The suspect had been arrested in Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.

On 30 June, Phaisali Police Station received a report from the village headman of Village 8, Phaisali Subdistrict, Nakhon Sawan Province, that Mr. Huay Sita, 78, Mrs. Tim Sita, 69, and Ms. Phiwatporn Sita, 43—a father, mother, and daughter—had mysteriously disappeared from their home. Officers inspected the house in Village 8 and found the front door locked from the outside with no one inside. CCTV wires had been cut and destroyed, and the kitchen door was pried open. Reviewing remaining CCTV footage revealed that around 2:30 AM on 30 June, Mr. Samart, the ex-boyfriend of Ms. Phiwatporn, had sneaked into the house and later drove away. It was suspected that all three victims had been abducted by him.

Phaisali Police coordinated with the Crime Suppression Division's Division 4 to track down Mr. Samart, who was believed to be involved in the disappearance of the three victims. After leaving the victims' home, Mr. Samart parked his car on the side of Raphiphat Canal Road, Village 14, Khlong 6 Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province. He then fled to Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, hiding in a hotel room in Pattaya. Officers from Division 4 arrested him during the early hours the previous night.

During questioning, Mr. Samart confessed to the triple homicide occurring between 29 and 30 June 2024, and admitted to hiding the bodies afterward. He explained that he had previously dated Ms. Phiwatporn but they had broken up. With a theft warrant against him, no job, and no money, he returned to the victims' home at night intending to steal again. Upon arrival, he removed the CCTV cameras and memory cards, took a kitchen knife to protect himself during the burglary. The three victims unexpectedly came out, brandishing a Thai sword to attack him. He said he then used the knife he carried to stab and kill all three. He loaded the bodies into his pickup truck, buried them in a cassava field 1-2 kilometers from the home, and fled the scene.

Mr. Samart also admitted he had previously burglarized the victims' home twice before: first on 21 April 2026, stealing 114,000 baht, and again on 8 May the same year, stealing 32,000 baht. Emboldened, he returned a third time, which ultimately led to the family’s murder.

After completing the interrogation, Pol. Maj. Gen. Suwat Saengnum and other senior officers, along with the Hanuman task force and Division 4 officers, promptly escorted Mr. Samart to the cassava field where he claimed to have buried the victims. They coordinated with rescue and forensic teams to search the area, successfully uncovering the three bodies buried there as claimed. The bodies are currently undergoing autopsy procedures.
