Former Police Hospital Chief Doctor Taweesin Submits Official Resignation Over 14th Floor Police Hospital Issue

Pol. Lt. Gen. Dr. Taweesin Vejvitharan, former chief doctor of the Police Hospital, calmly submitted his official resignation amid the controversy involving the 14th floor of the Police Hospital. He declined to give any media interviews and reportedly plans to pursue civil and criminal lawsuits to seek justice from all agencies involved.

At 14:30 on 2 July 2026, Pol. Lt. Gen. Dr. Taweesin Vejvitharan, former chief doctor of the Police Hospital, arrived at the Royal Thai Police headquarters by private car. He was accompanied by Pol. Maj. Gen. Sirikul Srisanga, former Police Hospital spokesperson, and other police officers who awaited his arrival. Dr. Taweesin then took the elevator to the Police Operations Center on the 20th floor of Building 1 at the police headquarters to formally submit his resignation. He maintained a neutral expression and did not respond to any questions from the media.

It was reported that previously Dr. Taweesin appointed Captain Thanakrit Jitarirat, Secretary to the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, as his lawyer. They are preparing to file civil and criminal lawsuits against all involved agencies to seek justice regarding the medical ethics issue related to the 14th floor of the Police Hospital. The police chief ordered Dr. Taweesin to be assigned to the Police Operations Center on the 20th floor, away from his original position, effective from 1 October 2025 to 31 March 2026 to allow for a disciplinary investigation. In March 2026, the assignment was extended by three months due to the complexity and ongoing nature of the investigation.

There were rumors that the Police Commission would hold an extraordinary annual police personnel promotion meeting, promoting Pol. Lt. Gen. Taweesin to assistant to the police chief and transferring Pol. Lt. Gen. Paiboon Jiamanukulkit, acting chief doctor of the Police Hospital, to chief doctor of the Police Hospital. However, the Police Commission later resolved to cancel these appointments.
