Arrest Made at District Office: Phra Phutthabat District Chief Official Accused of Soliciting Bribes for Gun Permit Issuance

Authorities conducted a joint operation to arrest the Phra Phutthabat District Chief Official inside the Phra Phutthabat District Office in Saraburi Province, accused of soliciting money in exchange for issuing gun permits. Initially, the suspect denies all charges.

On 3 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Maj. Gen. Prasong Chalapun, Commander of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), and Pol. Col. Teenatkon Wattanasaengprasert, Deputy Commander of DSI, assigned Pol. Col. Wanachai Yingyongsomsawat, Chief of Division 2, DSI, and Pol. Lt. Col. Surachet Dechapun, Deputy Chief of Division 2, DSI, along with officers from Division 2, DSI, to collaborate with the Office of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to arrest Mr. Parin, 43, Chief Official of Phra Phutthabat District in Saraburi Province, on charges of "being an official who solicits or agrees to receive assets or other benefits dishonestly for oneself or others." The arrest occurred at the Phra Phutthabat District Office, Phra Phutthabat Subdistrict, Phra Phutthabat District, Saraburi Province.

The case originated around January 2026 GMT+7 when the complainant sought to transfer two inherited firearms from his mother at Phra Phutthabat District Office in Saraburi. During the process, Mr. Parin, as the district chief official, allegedly solicited a processing fee of 10,000 baht, which was later reduced to 5,000 baht, stating that an additional 1,000 baht for the legal permit fee was also required.

The complainant, perceiving the fee solicitation as irregular, reported the matter to the Office of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) and cooperated in gathering evidence. On 26 May 2026 GMT+7, audio recordings of conversations and special equipment were used to record the meeting and the handover of 6,000 baht to the accused. Subsequently, a formal complaint was filed with investigators, leading to an arrest warrant and the subsequent arrest.

During the initial interrogation, Mr. Parin maintained his denial of all allegations. He was transferred to investigators of Division 2, DSI, to proceed with legal actions.
