At 16:30 on 4 July 2026, Police General Kittirat Punpetch, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, assigned Police General Samran Nuamma, Deputy Commissioner and Director of the Narcotics Prevention and Suppression Center, to investigate and expand the case of Mr. Uthai, the suspect who sent a suspicious parcel containing drugs to a female air hostess named Mina before her arrest by Australian authorities on 25 June 2026.

Police General Samran conducted searches at three locations in Uthai and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya districts, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, accompanied by Police General Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of Metropolitan Police Bureau; Police General Nopasil Poolsawad, Police Bureau Commander; Police Major General Theeradej Thammasuthi, Deputy Commissioner of Metropolitan Police; Police Major General Sombun Tiankhao, Deputy Commander of the Narcotics Suppression Police; Police Major General Adis Charoensawat, Commander of Narcotics Suppression Police 3; and Police Major General Worawit Yanajinda, Commander of Patrol and Special Operations, along with related officers, to search Mr. Uthai’s apartment to collect evidence and expand the investigation network.

During the search and interrogation, officers found eight pieces of elephant-patterned cloth cut from bags, many strips of these cloth pieces, and white powder. Forensic officers collected the powder from the cloth scraps for testing, confirming it was heroin.

Additionally, cash in banknotes, mobile phones, wallets, clothing, and backpacks believed to be items Mr. Uthai used on the day he delivered the heroin parcels to Ms. Mina were found. Forensic officers will continue detailed examination.

Police General Samran revealed that the suspect, Mr. Uthai, an ethnic Hmong from Nan Province who rented the searched location, confessed that on 20 June 2026, he traveled to Chiang Kham District, Phayao Province, to collect elephant-patterned bags: 12 bags with four elephants and six bags with two elephants, all containing heroin.

He stored them in his apartment and later, after hearing news of the air hostess’s arrest in Australia, discarded the remaining heroin and some bags at various locations to destroy evidence.

The seized items found today were materials returned from deliveries that had no further recipients. Forensic tests confirmed residual heroin stains inside the seized bags, with concentration levels verifying they were heroin residues.

Furthermore, Police General Samran said the suspect admitted knowing from the start that the bags contained heroin. He received them from a masked person in Chiang Kham, Phayao Province, then took a bus to Bangkok, stored the items in his apartment, and delivered them to a condominium in Bang Na district. He claimed to have done this three times.

Regarding the client, the suspect said he was contacted by a Thai person through a Line group but could not recall the real name. The client used a code name such as "Rinrin." Authorities will intensify investigations and follow up.

At 17:10, officers escorted Mr. Uthai out of the apartment. When reporters asked if he had anything to say, he continuously stated, "I apologize to the air hostess. I'm sorry for what I did. I truly apologize."
