A man riding a motorcycle onto the M6 motorway was confronted by a security guard attempting to intervene. A violent altercation ensued, during which the man was injured by a gunshot to the middle of his back and stabbed, while the security guard died, with sudden cardiac arrest suspected.
On 5 July 2026 at 13:30, Police Lieutenant Colonel Asawatep Chantnaree, an investigator at Nong Khae Police Station in Saraburi province, received a report from M6 motorway security patrol officers of a violent dispute involving knives and firearms, resulting in casualties. The incident occurred at kilometer 33, village 12, Buayloi subdistrict, Nong Khae district. Police patrol units, forensic teams from Saraburi province, Nong Khae Hospital doctors, and Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers from Nong Khae were dispatched to the scene.
At the scene on the M6 motorway downhill section in Buayloi subdistrict, Nong Khae district, Saraburi province, the body of Mr. Chalor Danarong, 49, from Non Yo subdistrict, Chum Phuang district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, head of the security patrol, was found lying dead in roadside grass. He wore a black uniform with a green reflective vest and had abrasions on his chest with torn clothing but no apparent stab wounds. It is believed he suffered sudden cardiac arrest. Nearby, a 15-centimeter pointed knife was found, as well as a .38 caliber pistol approximately 5 meters from the body, with one bullet remaining in the chamber.
In the middle of the road, a pair of black slip-on shoes belonging to the perpetrator was found. Approximately 50 meters from the body, a red and white Honda 110 motorcycle registered in Khon Kaen province, belonging to the perpetrator, was parked in the middle of the road. Nearby was another red and white Honda 110 motorcycle registered in Saraburi, belonging to the deceased.
The injured man was identified as Mr. Theerachai, 41, the perpetrator, who was apprehended by police officers and civilians about 100 meters from the scene under the M6 bridge. He suffered a gunshot wound to the middle of his back, with the bullet lodged inside, and a stab wound to his left rib area. He was taken to Nong Khae Hospital in critical condition and then transferred to Saraburi Hospital.
Lieutenant Colonel Sanan Nonmai, a patrol officer at the Nong Khae checkpoint, reported receiving a call about a violent man near the house of the village headman in village 12, Buayloi subdistrict, Nong Khae district. Upon arrival, he found a large man with a chest wound resembling a stab wound. A security guard then ran to inform him that the man had attacked another security guard. Rescue was contacted to take the injured to Nong Khae Hospital. The perpetrator is from Khon Kaen province and was unknown to locals.
The perpetrator rode a motorcycle onto the M6 motorway where the security guard (the deceased) tried to control him, since the motorway was not yet open for use and all vehicles were prohibited. The security guard carried a firearm because the M6 motorway has frequent wire theft incidents, prompting guards to carry weapons for self-defense. It is believed an argument occurred when the guard tried to stop or warn the motorcyclist about entering the motorway.
Mr. Rungsak Marupong, 54, a friend and fellow security guard of the deceased, said the victim was the head of the patrol team. He did not witness the incident but saw the perpetrator running around agitated, appearing disturbed, with a left-side wound exposing internal organs. He helped detain the perpetrator, who resisted. He was unsure why the perpetrator rode onto the motorway, but noted there had been frequent theft of property along the M6 motorway.
Mrs. Kritporn, 54, wife of the deceased, came to see her husband's body accompanied by Ms. Chin, 60, the deceased’s older sister. She said her husband never had conflicts with anyone. She felt it was unsafe for him to patrol alone. The perpetrator fought without fleeing, resulting in death. The M6 motorway often has thieves cutting wires even during daytime, and the situation at night is likely worse.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Asawatep Chantnaree said that Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers transported the body of Mr. Chalor Danarong, 49, to a detailed autopsy at Srinakharinwirot University Hospital in Ongkharak district, Nakhon Nayok province, to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, the perpetrator is under police guard at Saraburi Hospital.
