Wildfire Officer Shoots 29-Year-Old Man Dead, Citing Sudden Rage Asks Wife to Care for Child

A wildfire officer used a 9mm handgun to shoot a 29-year-old man dead, claiming he acted in sudden rage because the victim approached him with a knife. He asked his wife to take care of their child.

The case involves Mr. Anan Aranyao, 46, from Tha Sae District, Chumphon Province, a wildfire officer who shot Mr. Ritkiat Rosoda, 29, in front of a grocery store in Chang Raek Village, Bang Saphan Noi District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

This morning (6 July 2026), Bang Saphan Noi Hospital officials sent Mr. Ritkiat's body to Hua Hin Hospital for an autopsy and bullet extraction. Afterwards, his father will take the body for religious ceremonies at Thung Krathin Temple, Ron Thong Subdistrict, Bang Saphan District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

At Bang Saphan Noi Police Station, investigators questioned Mr. Anan, the suspect, for about three hours. He appeared tense when leaving the detention room. After the interrogation, police transported him by van to the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Court for detention.

After the questioning, Mr. Anan looked more relaxed. When reporters asked if he had anything to say, he replied briefly, "No." When asked if he planned to apologize to the victim's family, he again said, "No." Before leaving, he spoke briefly to his wife and relatives, telling his wife, "Please take care of our child."

Initially, Mr. Anan confessed to shooting Mr. Ritkiat in sudden rage, claiming the victim rode a motorcycle approaching him while holding a knife, apparently intending to stab him. He said if he hadn't shot, he would have been cut. Authorities charged him with three offenses: intentional homicide, unauthorized possession of firearms and ammunition, and carrying a firearm in public without valid reason.
