Electric Car Falls from Sirat Expressway, Crushing Motorcycle Police Investigate Incident

Police from Expressway Police Station 2 are investigating the cause of an accident where an electric sedan fell from the Sirat Expressway near the Rama 3 interchange, crushing a motorcycle on Charoen Rat Road and nearly killing two people.

At 20:52 on 7 Jul, Police Lieutenant Colonel Krit Limjamroon, an investigator from Traffic Control Center Unit 2, Expressway Police Station 2, received a report of a car falling from the Sirat Expressway near the Rama 3 interchange, landing on a motorcycle traveling below in front of the Tai Hong Kong Yok Khao Shrine on Charoen Rat Road, Yannawa subdistrict, Sathorn district, Bangkok. Injuries were reported. He and rescue workers from Lerdsin Hospital and Poh Teck Tung Foundation volunteers rushed to the scene.

At the scene on Charoen Rat Road, a bronze-gray Changan Deepal S07 electric car, license plate 6ขง 5279 Bangkok, was found heavily damaged, overturned with its wheels pointing upward, blocking the leftmost lane. Rescue crews used hydraulic cutters to extract the seriously injured male driver (name unknown) and took him to Lerdsin Hospital. Near the rear of the car was a red-black motorcycle, license plate 2ข 4288 Bangkok, lying on its right side and also heavily damaged. The rider, 68-year-old Indian Bajarulla Umarzata, had a deformed broken wrist and was taken to Saint Louis Hospital.

Investigation revealed that a man driving the electric sedan lost control and fell from the Sirat Expressway near the Rama 3 interchange. The rear of the car struck a motorcycle traveling below, causing injuries to two people.




Authorities are currently interviewing those involved and reviewing CCTV footage to determine the cause and will proceed with legal action against those responsible.
