Metropolitan Police Division 1 Orders Cancellation of Dragon Emblem at Huai Khwang Police Station Following Criticism Used for 3-4 Years

The "dragon emblem" at Huai Khwang Police Station does not comply with Royal Thai Police regulations as it was used without approval. Metropolitan Police Division 1 has ordered an investigation and cancellation after discovering it had been in use for 3–4 years.

Following the circulation of images and information on social media concerning police officers from the Prevention and Suppression Unit (patrol officers) at Huai Khwang Metropolitan Police Station wearing a dragon emblem patch on their uniform sleeves, public criticism has arisen.

Metropolitan Police Division 1 has conducted a preliminary fact-finding and found that

1. The dragon emblem is a patch used by the Prevention and Suppression Unit officers at Huai Khwang Police Station on their uniforms for approximately 3–4 years. It serves as a symbol representing the unit within the station. The dragon design was not intended to convey any hidden meaning or association with any organizations or groups.

2. Further examination revealed that use of the emblem had not been authorized according to related regulations, constituting unauthorized use under Royal Thai Police rules.

To ensure police uniforms are worn properly, correctly, and uniformly, Metropolitan Police Division 1 has instructed all police stations under its jurisdiction to inspect and immediately cease use of any unauthorized or noncompliant emblems or insignia. They have emphasized strict compliance with Royal Thai Police uniform regulations.

Metropolitan Police Division 1 affirms its commitment to conducting operations in full accordance with laws and regulations and is ready to address any identified shortcomings to uphold standards and maintain public trust in the police organization.
