Dragon Arm Patch Causes Stir Metropolitan Police Orders All Stations to Obtain Proper Permission, Finds No Involvement of Huai Khwang Police with Gray Chinese Groups

The "dragon arm patch" has caused confusion. The Metropolitan Police Bureau has ordered all affiliated police stations to properly apply for permission according to regulations. Initial checks found no Huai Khwang Police officers linked to gray Chinese groups.

On 9 July 2026, reports emerged that social media showed Huai Khwang Police Station using a dragon-shaped logo as an arm patch on the uniform of patrol officers in the crime suppression unit.

Initial investigations revealed that the dragon arm patch used by Huai Khwang crime suppression officers has been worn on their uniform sleeves for 3-4 years.

Preliminary inquiries found that its purpose was to serve as a unit identifier for the crime suppression section of Huai Khwang Police Station.

Secondly, the dragon arm patch worn on the crime suppression uniform at Huai Khwang Police Station has not yet received official permission as required. Use of arm patches as unit identifiers must be properly authorized according to regulations.

Thirdly, initial checks found no evidence that any Huai Khwang police officers were involved in corruption or accepting benefits from gray Chinese groups or other illegal entities. The dragon arm patch was created by the officers themselves solely as a unit identifier. No gray Chinese groups or illegal interests were linked to its creation.

Fourth, the Metropolitan Police Bureau has instructed Police Region 1 to concurrently investigate the facts of this matter.

Fifth, the Metropolitan Police Bureau has ordered Huai Khwang Police Station to apply for permission to use the dragon arm patch properly according to regulations. All other stations under its command have also been instructed to obtain proper authorization.

Sixth, Police Region 1's commander will review and redesign all police station emblems to better suit local environments and ensure appropriateness without social controversy.

Meanwhile, during this review process, the Police Region 1 commander has ordered all stations using unauthorized arm patches on uniforms to remove them immediately.
