Blood Inheritance: Elder Brother Shoots Sister Dead, Brother-in-Law Seriously Injured, Flees Leaving Mystery of Burning SUV

In Rayong, an elder brother drew a gun and shot his sister dead on the spot, seriously wounding his brother-in-law during a land survey of disputed inheritance property, then fled by car, leaving the mystery of a burning SUV. Authorities are urgently investigating.

At 11:00 a.m. on 9 July 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Suriya Kulbunya, an investigator at Nikom Phatthana Police Station, Rayong Province, received a report of a shooting resulting in casualties at a construction site for row houses without a street number, Village No. 2, Soi 10, Line 11, Makham Khu Subdistrict, Nikom Phatthana District, Rayong. He reported to his superiors and led an investigation team along with forensic officers, the on-call doctor, and rescue workers from Sawang Porasuk Foundation, Nikom Phatthana branch, to inspect the scene.

The scene was a rental room construction site where a white SUV was found with intense flames at the front. Firefighters from the Makham Khu and Phana Nikom Municipalities worked together to douse the fire and managed to bring it under control.

Nearby, the body of Ms. Orawan, approximately 60 years old, was found shot in the chest and declared dead at the scene. A man, her brother-in-law, was shot in the left back of the head and critically injured. Officials provided first aid and rushed him to the hospital. The suspect fled amid the chaos before authorities arrived.

Preliminary investigation revealed the suspect was the biological elder brother of the deceased Ms. Orawan and the brother-in-law of the injured man. The parties had a long-standing dispute over inherited land, which had escalated to legal action in court.

On the day of the incident, Rayong Provincial Court had summoned the involved parties and relevant officials to conduct an on-site survey to determine land boundaries. The negotiation failed to reach an agreement and escalated into a heated argument. The suspect, overcome with rage, drew a firearm and fired multiple shots at his sister and brother-in-law, killing Ms. Orawan instantly and critically injuring the brother-in-law before fleeing rapidly toward Ban Bueng.

The white SUV that caught fire at the scene remains a mystery under police investigation. It is still unclear whether the fire was caused by gunfire or deliberately set after the shooting. Forensic experts will conduct a thorough examination to determine the true cause.

Currently, the investigation team is gathering evidence, tracing the suspect’s escape route, and intensifying efforts to apprehend the elder brother of the deceased for prosecution under the law as soon as possible.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
