Police Raid Illegal Bitcoin Mining Operation in Pathum Thani Soundproof Walls and Electricity Bill Only 35 Baht per Month

Investigation Division 1 police raided a commercial building in Moo 9, Khlong Nueng Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province, and were shocked to find 18 Bitcoin mining machines, soundproofed walls, and neatly concealed wiring, with an electricity bill of only 35.62 baht per month.

At 09:30 on 9 July 2026, Pol. Lt. Gen. Watthana Yijin, Commander of Investigation Division 1, ordered Pol. Maj. Gen. Wichit Boonchinwutikul, Deputy Commander, along with Pol. Maj. Gen. Worachat Saenkham, Pol. Col. Prathan Nantakobkul, Pol. Col. Wisit Maakorn, Pol. Col. Witit Jan-iam, Pol. Col. Nattapong Sripheunpala, Commander of Investigation Unit 2, Pol. Lt. Col. Danaipon Hankorn, Deputy Commander of Investigation Unit 2, and Pol. Lt. Col. Woraphat Kaewduangthian, Inspector of Investigation Unit 2, together with officers from Investigation Unit 2 and staff from the Provincial Electricity Authority Rangsit branch, to carry out a court search warrant No. 349/2569 at a three-story commercial building in Moo 9, Khlong Nueng Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province.

The scene was a vacant, three-story commercial building. Upon inspection of the third floor, Bitcoin mining machines were found, with noise from the cooling fans disguised by soundproofed walls and neatly concealed wiring. A constant sound similar to ventilation fans was heard. Electrical circuits had been illegally modified to bypass the meter, resulting in abnormal continuous electricity use to mine digital currency (Bitcoin) for over two years. The electricity bill was only 35.62 baht per month, causing state losses worth millions of baht.

Police confiscated 11 Bitcoin mining machines, 4 internet signal receivers, and various internet connection accessories.

Authorities will continue investigating to identify and prosecute the offenders under the law. The seized items were handed over to Khlong Luang Police Station in Pathum Thani Province for further legal action.
