Court Denies Bail for 26 Fake Father-Fake Mother Suspects, Citing Threat to National Security

The court has ordered no bail for the "Fake Father-Fake Mother" suspects, stating their behavior poses a threat to national security. Correctional officers have taken all suspects into custody.

The Metropolitan Police Bureau launched an operation to dismantle a fake birth registration ring known as the "Fake Father-Fake Mother" network, accused of fabricating documents to fraudulently grant rights to foreign children. The investigation found suspects including Thai and Chinese nationals, as well as government officials and medical personnel involved. The inquiry expanded to prosecute a total of 27 people connected to the ring.

Authorities subsequently brought all 27 suspects before the court to request detention. The Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases approved their detention as requested, charging them under various sections of the Criminal Code, the Civil Registration Act B.E. 2534 (1991) Section 50, and the Anti-Corruption Act B.E. 2561 (2018). Among them, 26 suspects applied for bail during this detention period.

On 11 July 2026 GMT+7, reports indicated the court reviewed the case and denied bail, citing the severity of the charges, the organized nature of the offenses involving both Thai and foreign nationals, and the threat posed to national security. Additionally, investigators opposed bail release.

As a result, correctional officers have taken all suspects to be held at Bangkok Remand Prison and Central Women’s Correctional Institution in accordance with the court’s order.
