Awaiting Prime Minister Nu to Convene Police Commission Meeting to Propose 16th National Police Chief on 22 July

Prime Minister Anutin has scheduled a Police Commission meeting to propose the 16th National Police Chief on 22 July at 13:00 in the Sriyanont Conference Room at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters.

On 13 July 2026, at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters, it was reported that Police Lieutenant General Thayut Chanthaworn, Commander of the Police Commission Secretariat, sent a letter coordinating with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to chair a special meeting to consider the appointment of the National Police Chief on 22 July at 13:00 in the Sriyanont Conference Room.

The meeting confirmation is pending, with the Prime Minister expected to propose deputy national police chiefs for consideration at the Police Commission meeting. This commission includes appointed experts, elected members, and deputy national police chiefs who form the committee to approve candidates. The Prime Minister will then submit the approved candidate to the King for royal appointment. There are four candidates under consideration for the National Police Chief position: Police General Nirandorn Luemsri, the most senior; Police General Thatchai Pitanilabutr, the second most senior deputy; Police General Samran Nuanma; and Police General Itthipol Achariyapradit.
