
Another arrest has been made: “Sergeant Pichit,” part of the local government exam fraud network, was found preparing to surrender after learning an arrest warrant had been issued against him. He is currently in custody for questioning.
On 13 Jul 2026 GMT+7, reporters provided an update on the fraud case involving the entrance exam for civil servants under the Department of Local Administration (DLA), Ministry of Interior. Following the Criminal Court's approval of arrest warrants on 10 Jul 2026 GMT+7 at the request of investigators, three suspects were charged. The warrants include three offenses: being part of a criminal gang, under Penal Code Section 188 for damaging, destroying, concealing, or causing the loss of wills or documents that could cause harm to others or the public, and violations under the Computer Crime Act for inputting false data into computer systems.
Recently, the investigation team from Division 2, Crime Suppression Division, arrested two suspects in this case: Mr. Win Thanapochropolkin, also known as Win, and Mr. Asawin Chotipanang, an advisor to the Director of the Promotion and Training Office at Kasetsart University. Earlier, the investigation team coordinated with police in Laos, who were able to detain the suspect on 11 Jul 2026 GMT+7.
Another suspect, Ms. Sataporn, Win’s sister, was arrested on 12 Jul 2026 GMT+7 inside Kasetsart University’s Kamphaeng Saen campus.
Most recently, reporters stated that in the evening, officers from Division 2, Crime Suppression Division, arrested Sergeant Major Dr. Pichit Thangphrom, also known as Sergeant Pichit, Director of Strategy and Budget Division at Wichianburi Municipality, Phetchabun Province. He is the final suspect in the local government civil service exam fraud network. He was apprehended while en route to surrender at the Crime Suppression Division headquarters and is currently in custody undergoing questioning.
