Updates on the corruption case involving entry exams for civil servants under the Department of Local Administration, Ministry of Interior: The department filed a complaint with Division 2 of the Crime Suppression Division to prosecute those involved or responsible for wrongdoing.
On 15 July 2026, reporters at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) reported that after yesterday (14 July), Crime Suppression Division police searched the company Triple Corporate at 40/10 Soi Chaeng Watthana 43, Khlong Kluea Subdistrict, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province, belonging to Mr. Asawin Chotiphanang, aka Dr. Win, advisor to the Director of the Promotion and Training Office at Kasetsart University. The search aimed to find information linked to the local exam fraud network. Initially, no significant evidence was found because some data had been deleted as the files were quite old, so important information is still unavailable.
Therefore, further investigation is needed with Sergeant Phichit Thaprom, Director of Strategy and Budget at Wichian Buri Municipality, who denies all charges. However, police possess some evidence indicating Sergeant Phichit’s guilt, which he admits to.
Sergeant Phichit has been very stressed since his arrest. He came to the Crime Suppression Division voluntarily, believing that by appearing before the police, he would be granted bail. His wife also brought cash as bail surety during the investigation stage.
This morning, investigators from Division 2, Crime Suppression Division, took Mr. Win and Sergeant Phichit for additional questioning before presenting them for detention at the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road before noon. At 13:00 today, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also Minister of Interior, along with the Central Investigation Bureau chief, will hold a press briefing on the case at the CIB’s second-floor press room.
