Detention Ordered for Dr. Win and Sergeant Pichit, Two Suspects in Exam Fraud Case Bail Denied by Court

Authorities detained Dr. Win and Sergeant Pichit, two suspects in an exam fraud case, requesting their detention. Both consistently denied all charges before filing for temporary release. Recently, the court rejected their request and ordered them held in prison.

At the Criminal Court at 13:00 on 15 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Crime Suppression officers brought Mr. Win Thanaphotphokin and Sergeant Dr. Pichit Thongprom, suspects in the exam fraud case, for their first detention hearing. Both suspects denied all charges.

Police opposed their bail requests, citing that the acts were organized as a syndicate, affecting government administration and multiple public and private agencies. The damage is widespread, with some involved individuals still at large. They feared that if released, the suspects might flee or collude with others to tamper with evidence.

After the detention hearing, Sergeant Dr. Pichit and Mr. Win filed for temporary release, which is currently under consideration by the Criminal Court.

On 14 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Crime Suppression officers detained Ms. Sataporn Thanaphotphokin, 29, another suspect in the exam fraud case, and requested her detention. She filed for bail, but the Criminal Court denied it, and she was sent to the Central Women's Correctional Institution.

Court denies bail for Dr. Win and Sergeant Pichit.

After completing the detention procedure, Mr. Win and Mr. Pichit, suspects 1 and 2, filed a request for temporary release during the detention process.

The Criminal Court considered and ordered the bail requests of both suspects be denied for the same reasons. After weighing the severity of the charges and case circumstances, it found that the suspects acted as part of an organized syndicate with many involved. The offenses caused broad harm to individuals and government systems, constituting a serious matter. Considering objections from investigators and victims, there is reasonable belief the suspects might flee, tamper with evidence, or obstruct the investigation. Therefore, bail was denied during the investigation, and the suspects were promptly informed of the decision.

Subsequently, correctional officers escorted both suspects to be held at the Bangkok Remand Prison.
